The luck in on our side when we won with 25 points difference against the other team. The second game should be after the current game between Sapphire High School and St. Andrews High School. Sapphire is known as our strongest opponent because it's always either Sterling or Sapphire in the first place and runner up. I did get updated with the school news especially on basketball because it's the most famous game in our school even though I usually didn't attend the games. Most of the time, just because of Harley.
Most of the audiences are also as focus as us with the game because it's Sapphire. Well, deep inside I was hoping they lose because it will make it easier for our team but of course they won't. The first quarter, they already leads with 17 points. Makes it harder already for St. Andrews.
After all of the games for first rounds and quarter finals are done, the result came out that we win 2 games as well as Sapphire and Eluvian while the others either one win or all lose.
The semi finals got everyone energetic again even though some of the audiences start to show boredom in the past 3 games. Sterling vs Eluvian starts right after the 10 minutes break for briefing and the whole court got loud again especially our cheerleaders team. They really did a lot of screams and cheers, I bet they'll lose their voice after today ends.
"Please, make it to the Final." Harley and I quietly pray as they start the game. The crowd goes wild everytime we got points and I believe it helps the team going stronger each time. After the first half, we lead with 15 points as it was such an intense game but the widen the gaps as we time goes by and we win with 30 points difference.
Which means, they made it to the Final.
The other semi final game between Sapphire and Woods when quite quick as the Sapphire wins easily with 54 points difference. As expected.
The final will be starting after 30 minutes break so I take the time to go to the toilet with Harley and take turns with Mom and Uncle George and Aunt Susan to save our spots and keep our belongings safe if they want to buy food. Saying that I'm nervous for the final is an understatement. Harley shows me the school forum that she logs in with her phone. The forums are so busy with today's game update for those who could not come to watch. A lot of people are giving their supports and it's good to see that this forum is used for a good purpose.
"They really turn out different when it comes to basketball" Harley says and I couldn't agree more.
After 15 minutes break, the players get into position again and the game starts right away. The situation right now is chaotic. I can't even describe what happened because I am too focus on the game and people keep on cheering for our team. I see Ryan throws some 3 points ball and it drives the crowd wild everytime.
That's my boy, everyone.
The game is so intense that the points difference after the first half is just 5 and we lead, luckily.
I think I say it too early because in the third quarter, Sapphire are going all out that they even turn the table. As soon as the third quarter ends, we are behind with 8 points. Not that bad but still needs a stronger strategy to beat them.
The final quarter is the most nerve-wracking one as we can see that the crowd starts to focus on the game more on the cheers. They still cheer for the team but only when we score points. 3 minutes left before the game ends and now it's a freaking tie! After another more shoots from the players, Sapphire leads with 2 points and we only got 1 and half minute left.
"We still have the chance" is what I keep on repeating in my head and heart.
But what I didn't expect is, one of the Sapphire's player hit his elbow to Ryan's rib when he's about to catch the ball from Alex which resulted his left foot to land wrongly and his ankle sprains.
"Ryan!" is what comes out from Aunt Susan's mouth when she saw that. Mom tries to calm her down because she looks really worried. Of course, it's her only son.
I believe it's not only me who notices that and we all got the same reaction.
Harley looks at my worried face when the umpire stops the game for a while for injury time. I look at her back and she holds my trembling hands.
"He'll be okay. It's the last one minute and he's going to rest after this, okay?" She assures me. I'm glad that it's the final so I just nod.
I look back at the players and I focus on the jersey no 12 who hits Ryan and I believe he said that it was unintentional when I saw it my own eyes he did it on purpose. After the umpire focus back on Ryan, I swear I freaking saw him smirk! That son of a b*tch! I know he did it to secure the 2 points lead!
After a while, Ryan gets up again, telling the umpire that he will proceed with the game. Of course he will. He's my stubborn boyfriend. I didn't agree with what he did but still I need to support him. I'll get mad later. At this point, I don't even care if we lose by 2 points. I just want Ryan to be safe.
The umpire dismissed the players again and I see Adam whispers something to Ryan when he helps him get up. After that, he pats his shoulder and Ryan gives a nod. I know they are planning something, I just hope it's not stupid.
I look at the clock, 45 seconds left. Please. Just end this quick.
They start the game again and when William gets the ball, he passes it to Adam and after he manages to get through the Sapphires in his way, he passes the ball to Ryan who already waiting at the edge of the D curve.
No way. He's making Ryan shoots the 3 points?
As what I expected, Ryan catches the ball and without thinking about his ankle, he jumps as soon as he gets the ball and makes a shot. I pray so hard to let the ball gets in the ring, at least make Ryan's last effort worth it.
And yes, he did it. He did the 3 points shot. And 2 seconds right after he shot that, the umpire blows the whistle, meaning that the game ends and we win by 1 point. 1 freaking point and Ryan saves us with his sprained ankle.
I almost forgot, but Ryan can't even stand straight and falls on his butt right after he shoots. Luckily, it's worth it. The boys surround him and lift him up as the celebration. I smile at their reaction.
"Silly." I said slowly, realizing that I just cried looking at my injured boyfriend.
Harley hugs me and I can't help but cry. Aunt Susan and Mom are also hugging each other which makes it more emotional. I don't need to say but the whole court is the most chaotic now and everyone cheers and screams everywhere.
The players shake hands with each other and they get out of the court right away. Adam and William help Ryan walk to their waiting bench and I don't even wait when I step down the bleachers to go to meet them.
