I am going through my biology homework when I get a call from someone. I am so lazy to get my phone which is on the bedside table, still on charge. So, I decided to just call the caller back later. I know it's not a good habit because the call might be important but I almost done with my homework anyway. Besides, if it's so important, the caller surely will call me more than once.
After finishing the last question on my text book, I tidy up every book and put them in my bag. Later, I get on my bed to look at my phone.
Oh, it was Ryan. I should pick the call up.
I dial his number and wait for the call to be connected. After the second ring, he answers. That's fast.
"Hye, Abby." I hear his masculine voice. Damn, I must really like him.
"Hey. You called?"
"Yeah, sorry if I'm disturbing you this late." He sounds guilty.
"No, it's fine. I just finished my homework by the way. What is it?"
"I... Umm... I just... Never mind. Nothing important, actually." This idiot. I was hoping he keeps the conversation longer.
"You sure?"
"Yeah, it's not a big deal."
I nod at his reply and realize he can't see it. When I don't reply, the line sounds quiet.
"Umm, Ryan?"
"Yes, still here."
"About yesterday. I'm sorry." I whisper quietly but loud enough for him to hear.
"Sorry? For what?" He doesn't sound like trying to tease me.
"Well, I was mad and selfish. I shouldn't have left like that and shutting you down. I need to at least listen."
"It's okay, Abby. I know how you feel. I was so hard with Natasha before, and suddenly you heard the news. You must be so disappointed."
Not just that. I almost go through a heartbreak because you like someone else.
"Yeah, but still. I wasn't me. Sorry."
"Well, we're okay now. How about you and Harley? She doesn't seem happy when she left just now."
"Not so good. She knows me too much that I finally hurt her feeling when I try to hide mine. I... shouldn't do that." I play with my hair while looking at the ceiling. I should talk to her but I'm afraid if she's still mad. Maybe I'll just talk tomorrow before our class. She always waits for me.
"Sorry to hear that. I hope you guys sort things out quickly. You seem can't be away from each other for too long." He chuckles. He's right though.
I laugh a little. "Cannot deny that."
"Okay, then. Can't keep you awake for too long. Good night, Abby. Rest well."
"Good night, Ryan. You too." If only I get to say it everyday.

The next day, I wait for Harley at her locker. I know she will wait for me even though we fought. She always like that. After 5 minutes standing there, she comes.
"Hey, you're early." She says slowly and looks at me weirdly.
"Yes, I'm waiting for you." I smile widely.
"I can see that." She unlocks her locker and take her chemistry book for our first class.
While she still going through her things, I say "I'm sorry."
