We arrive at the house and everyone freshens up while Mom and Harley start preparing the food that we need to eat with the barbecue like mashed potato, coleslaw, black pepper sauce and desserts.
Ryan arrives just 20 minutes after us, fully in new fresh outfit and then the boys start doing the fire because obviously we're hungry now. We need to grill the meats and get everything ready before we get to eat so I decided to make a snack for them. Sandwiches. Easiest ones.
Aunt Susan, Mom and Harley are still busy preparing other foods so I make sandwiches by myself. Just enough for everyone to eat at least something because I know they are hungry after all the games we play.
I cut the breads, put in the sliced ham, spread some mayo and sauce, with sliced tomato and salad and it's done.
I put them on two plates. One for the kitchen members, one for the boys.
I tell them in the kitchen that I prepared some sandwiches for them and it's on the counter, and Harley is the first one to eat. She is always hungry though. But, Aunt Susan and Mom just follow after her.
I bring another plate to the backyard to give them to the boys so I put it on the table. I take a look at the fire and it works well. Ryan is grilling lamb I believe so I go beside him to take a look. "Give me one. I'm hungry." He says when I stand right beside him.
I shake my head but still get one piece for him. I feed him the sandwich because he said he can't use his hand because he's busy. Excuses.
I offer the sandwich to Will and Uncle George and they eat it by themselves just fine which make me glare at Ryan but he just smiles. He must want to say that he's good at taking chance.
"Do you guys want any drinks?"
"Anything cold would be good." Will says. Of course, it's summer after all.
"Be right back." I go back to the kitchen and make them a jug of orange juice with a lot of ice. And serve them the juice before going back to the kitchen to help everyone cooks.
We eat and talk when the food is served and everyone literally enjoy everything because honestly we are really hungry. The meat grilled by Uncle George, Ryan and William are the star of the day and we actually finished all of them.
I let everyone talk some more and decided to take some of the empty dishes to the kitchen to serve desserts after this. Harley is busy talking with William so I go alone with the dishes in my hands.
I put them in the sink and moved to tge microwave to take out the pavlova and start by taking the spatula to spread out the whipped cream on top. I was doing a good job when someone hugs me from the back that I almost yelp. But I know it's Ryan as soon as I felt his body against my back.
"You scared me." I say but my hand is still busy with the pavlova.
"But you know it was me."
"Because Mom or Harley won't do that. I doubt if Will have the courage either." I try to tease him.
He widens his eyes at me, "He might not see the sky again if he did that."
I laugh at his reply, "Of course he won't."
"Can you help me take out the fruits from the fridge?" I look up to him behind me.
He released me and I already miss his hug. He walks to the fridge and take out the plate of fruits and hands it to me. He then continue his position earlier by hugging me back but it restricts my movement to work.
"Ryan, I'm doing this. You need to let go first."
"No."
"Baby, they are waiting for the dessert. I need to finish this."
