"Diamond?"
"Hm?"
He leaned in and pressed a kiss to my lips, "I love you."
With a smile, I kissed him back, "I love you."
"Tallia."
Someone put their hand on my shoulder and turned me around. Looking at their face under the hood of their jacket, my...
"Uh..." I dragged on, thinking about how I should answer.
"Get home now."
"We're around twenty minutes away," I said, speeding faster. I could hear him sigh before speaking, "I'll try to get them off your trail. Drive faster."
"Got it."
He hung up and Zach placed my phone in the cup holder, "How is he gonna do that?"
"We have eyes almost everywhere. He'll contact someone to set up a diversion to avert the police's attention from us to that. It has to be big enough to need the ones chasing us to turn around and send backup."
He nodded, "What about the guy behind?"
"We'll just have to find a way to get him off."
"How good is your driving?" he suddenly asked. I answered with a hint of curiosity in my voice, "I used to compete in street racing when I was in high school."
"Then if I had a plan to get the car off us, would you do it?"
"That depends."
"On what?"
"If you do have a plan."

We had to pass a mountainside road to get home and Zach had an idea, but it was risky. Doable, but risky. And I was completely on board with this.
"Right when you get the chance to pass the lorry, swerve left quickly and onto the mountain. The lorry is long enough so the car would be thrown off-guard and you can drive back in on land behind," he told me his plan again. I held the gearstick, "You sure this is gonna work?"
"I'm sure," he said with confidence. I drove faster and slowly passed the lorry.
"Now?" I asked and he shook his head, "It's too close."
I drove a little faster until my car was almost completely in front of the lorry.
"Right..."
My heart was thumping out of my chest with sudden uncertainty.
"Now!"
I turned the steering wheel, pulling the hand brake up, and drifted past the lorry, narrowly missing being hit. The car was now at a veryclose to vertical angle on the mountain as we drove before landing back on the road.
"Damn, it actually worked."
"Told you," Zach said with a smug face. I lightly punched his shoulder and he laughed it off.
We drove behind the car that was following us and I nudged Zach, "What do you think now?"
He looked around, "The only way he's going to get back behind us is if he went into the other lane and back to us. So how about when he does that, we throw a grenade at him?"
"So you want me to get really close to the trunk and force him to turn?" I raised an eyebrow and he nodded, "Yeah."
"Okay."
I pressed down the gas pedal and went faster, getting really close to the bumper. The front of my car was basically grazing it. Zach took out a grenade and opened his window.
"Get ready," I said and he took the pin between his teeth, preparing to pull it out. I bumped the back of the car and he actually turned into the wrong side of the lane. Zach pulled the pin and threw it at the car. The grenade exploded midair but was able to get the car in the crossfire.
"Got 'em!" we high-fived and I sped down the road.

I parked the car in the garage and shut off the engine.
"Diamond?" I heard Zach unlock his seatbelt. I hummed in response.
"Come here," he said and leaned over the console, placing his lips on mine. He unbuckled my seatbelt and tugged me closer to him. I placed my hands on his neck and he held my thigh, preparing to hoist me over the console when-
"I will shoot if you don't let go."
We pulled away faster than lightning when we heard the voice. By Zach's window stood Kris- wait, Landon- with a gun in his hand, pointing straight at Zach's head.
"Hey Landon," I greeted and he gave me an unsuspiciously wide grin, "Hey kitten."
With the gun in hand, he gestured for us to exit the car. Zach and I shared a look before stepping out and closing the door. Immediately, Landon pushed Zach to the car with his forearm and pointed the gun at his temple.
"Landon," I said, slowly stepping towards them. Zach tried to stay calm but I mean, who can when there's a gun pointed at your head? Well, except for Estradas, but who can?
"You piece of shit, I trusted you not to fuck up, and guess what? I get an alert saying the police was chasing you two," Landon sneered and I slowly reached out to hold his hand that is gripping the gun.
"Landon," I said and he snapped his eyes to me, pushing the gun closer to Zach's head.
Staring at his green eyes, I carefully pried his fingers off the trigger and twisted the gun out of his hold.
"Let go of him, please."
He glanced between Zach and I, thinking. He cursed before backing up and standing a few feet away from us. I looked at Zach and he nodded, signaling that he's okay. I turned back to Landon before carefully handing his gun back.
"Come inside, we need to talk," he gritted out before walking away. Zach and I shared a look.
"We're dead."
