Chapter Thirty - Time Starts Now

Kryssie...wake up...

Tallia...

Wake up, Kryssie...

Kryssie...!

"Kryssie!"

My eyes shot wide as someone shook my shoulder. I blinked a few times before my eyes adjusted to the bright light shining down from the ceiling. I saw KT knelt beside me and James on the other side.

I pushed myself off the cold tiles and stood up, "Where are we?"

"Most likely in one of the stores," James said.

I looked at them, "How long were we out for?"

"You were out for a few hours," I heard a speaker in the corner of the room say before Tatiana's face appeared on the television screen in front of us.

"It's currently twelve noon so you know what that means?"

I raised an eyebrow and she clapped while grinning, "Feeding time! And I'm taking you with me."

I glanced at KT and James before watching the screen as Tatiana brought the camera to a cell. She knocked on the metal door, "Wakey-wakey!"

My jaws dropped at the scene. Kris was tied to the chair while Zach was cuffed up on the floor. They looked like they're barely hanging on a thread.

"Oh, god," James mumbled under his breath.

Tatiana took something and threw it onto the floor. It looked like food but didn't at the same time.

"It's some chicken that's extra charred for more protein, you know? Oh, and I almost forgot your drink."

She splashed water on them before tossing the plastic cup on the ground, "Happy eating, you guys!"

She left the room and the screen went black for a minute before it lit up again with Tatiana's grinning face.

"Yeah, they're in a pretty bad shape," she said, frowning but you could tell she was happy.

"Now, Krystallia, we're going to play a game. It's an elaborate game that has many levels," she leaned her head on her hands, "Your objective is to complete each level and win the game."

I took a step towards the screen, "What if I don't want to play?"

She put her hands down, "Oh, then I guess you'll just have to watch me end two lives then. If you play and win, the prize will be the people you came here for."

She grinned terrifyingly wide, "What do you say? Are you going to join?"

I looked at KT and James before slowly nodding, "Okay, I'll play the game."

She clasped her hands together, "Oh goodie. Then go through the door I just opened up. Your first level lies inside."

I patted myself down and realized I had no weapons on me. Tatiana must've seen because she mentioned, "Oh, I took your weapons. Can't have players carrying a gun around, can I?"

With KT and James behind me, I stepped through the door and took in the room.

A wooden table sat in the center with a silver pair of ominous-looking scissors on top.
