Chapter Twenty-Nine - Like An Estrada

Monday, 30th November 2020

KRYSTALLIA

Nothing.

Absolutely nothing.

Whenever we think that a place is where they're at, the building immediately gets demolished.

It's like they're toying with us.

I connected Tatiana's picture on the holopad to a forest on the west side of California. One of our allied gangs spotted a team there who looked like the picture James had and informed us about it.

We had nothing to lose so we asked if they could help investigate it and they agreed.

The Secretary's team is also struggling to trace the locations of where the sender of the text was and we were starting to lose hope.

As I stared at the map with notes and coordinates around, my phone dinged. KT looked at me from the other side of the holopad and I shrugged, pulling out my phone.

It was another unknown text. Different number, but the same person.

Unknown Number

Pro-tip.

Don't think like a Harley Quinn.

Unpredictable, arbitrary, and illogical options.

Think like an Estrada.

Sensible, realistic, and pragmatic possibilities.

I'm bored over here.

And I never move bases more than once.

"Think like an Estrada? Aren't I thinking like one? Who else am I gonna think like?" I muttered under my breath.

Placing my phone down, I looked at all the previous options we had.

Harley Quinn = Irregular

Estrada = Rational

I looked over the map and took down those that were impossible for them to be there.

Never moved more than once.

She had moved away after we got the first batch of Withered Ghost. So that meant she has been in the same place since then.

On Thanksgiving, the time between Zach leaving the house and Cain receiving the letter was two and a half hours. To get Zach and get the letter here would be time-consuming. So the base definitely would be within California.

"Kryssie?" KT called out and I looked up at him, "Hm?"

"You okay?"

I nodded, giving my phone to him, "Take a look at this."

He read over the texts and put the phone down, "She wants you to think like you. She doesn't want you to think like a gang member. If you weren't Harley Quinn, how would you think? How would Krystallia Estrada think in a situation like this?"

"Rationality over unpredictability," I said and he nodded, "That's going to help us find them. Your mind is something special, Kryssie. You know how it works, and that's going to help us decrease the possible options of where they are."
