Protecting Mr. Wimp
Chapter 32
They all laughed and chatted for a while. Gina felt great, she hadn't felt like this in a while. After telling about her past to them, she felt a lot lighter, as if she didn't needed to handle everything on her own anymore. The fact that there was hope for her sister and herself, she was happy to know for a fact that Michael and Evelyn were dead set on helping her, it made her feel loved and she like this new feeling.
After a few minutes, Michael hesitantly started, "Um, Gina, do you want us to keep your past a secret? I mean, we could, that is if, you want us too." Evelyn nodded in agreement.
Gina thought about it for a while. She had done everything to keep her past a secret for a long time, did she want anyone else to know? Well, what was the worst that could happen? She didn't have anything to lose, right? It wasn't like her past was some sort of classified information.
Her past hurts, yes. It still does. But, letting someone know about it wasn't as bad as she used to think it would be. Maybe it wasn't something to hide. Yes, she used to hide it before, she used to think that revealing it would make people think she's weak, but... surprisingly enough, it made her feel stronger.
With that thought, she smile at him and said, "No, it's okay, you don't have to keep it a secret." He grinned at her in relief, he was really bad at keeping secrets. Gina glanced at the watch and her eyes widened, she cursed, "I'm sorry, guys, but I'll think I have to go now."
Michael pouted, "Why are you leaving so soon? We were having so much fun! Right, Eve?"
Evelyn laughed at his childish protest, "I'm sorry, Mike, but I think I'll have to go too. I forgot that I had to prepare the dough for something Mrs. Travis wanted to cook today."
He scowled and crossed his arms over his chest as Gina and Evelyn stood up. "You guys are always working, couldn't you just skip for today?"
The girls' eyes widened and they furiously shook their head, "We can't laze around on the couch all day like you, Travis." Gina said.
Evelyn nodded in agreement, "Yeah, she's right, Mike. Maybe you should do something useful too."
He groaned, "I don't have anything to do, Eve! There's a reason why I 'laze around the couch all day'."
Gina smirked at him, "There is one thing that you could do."
He eyed her warily, "What...?"
"You could go to the gym and train."
His eyes widened, "No! Not that!"
"In fact, that is what you should do," She nodded in thought, "Alright, Mike, go get ready and train. I want you to work on those punches."
He gaped at her, "What? I thought it was my day off!"
She shrugged, "I guess I changed my mind."
"What? You can't-"
She cut him off by giving him a stern look, "Go and get ready, Michael. When I say I changed my mind, I mean it."
He huffed, and stood up, making his way out of the living room. She even heard him mutter, "Maybe I could take a nap there, she wouldn't notice, right?"
Gina decided to ignore him and shook her head, then looked over at Evelyn, "Let's get to work then."
Evelyn nodded with a smile and headed out of the living room, "Okay, Gina. I guess I'll see you later then."
