Protecting Mr. Wimp
Chapter 23
They ran over to the huddled figure as soon as they got out from the car. No wait, actually, Evelyn ran to the huddled figure while Michael took his time following her. He didn't really look concerned for Gina, as a matter of fact, he looked... bored.
As soon as she reached the figure she glanced at the person's face and relief flooded in her as she gasped, "Gina!" Gina didn't respond as she stared at her expressionlessly. She hugged her tight, "Oh my goodness, I was so worried about you! Please don't ever do that again."
"Yeah, she has been freaking-out about you since, well... since I saw her freaking-out." Michael's voice came from behind her.
"What are you doing in a deserted park like this?"
"With so many bugs."
"Did you know I had to drag him all the way out here?"
"Just because you decided to be a whiny brat?"
"I was seriously so worried! Why aren't you saying anything?"
"Whoa, did someone had mercy upon us and glued your mouth?"
Evelyn shot a glare at Michael, "Shut up, you're not helping."
Michael immediately stopped talking, not because he was intimidated by Evelyn. No, it was because he was baffled at the size of her confidence. Evelyn really takes this friendship thing seriously, doesn't she?
Gina just stared at the park in front of her, not replying to anyone. Evelyn grew concerned, whereas Michael was trying to fend off a bug that had started annoying him.
"Come on, Gina. Let's get you home." Evelyn tugged on her arm.
This time, Gina did reply, however, her reply was barely above a whisper, "Home?"
"Yes, Gina. Home, now let's go."
"Where are you going to take me?"
"The mansion, of course."
"I don't live in a mansion."
Evelyn sighed exasperatedly, "Gina, please, just come with me."
"No," Gina stated firmly, and yanked her arm out of her grasp. Evelyn was flabbergasted at Gina's reaction, why wasn't she coming with her? She continued, "There's no place called, 'home' for me now. So just go away."
Her eyes softened, she realized that Gina was hurt for some reason but this was no time to talk about her friend's problems. She looked at Gina in the eyes and said, "You do have a home, Gina. It's with us, I don't know what happened at the hospital but you have to come with us. Please don't do this to yourself, Gina. It will not only hurt you, but others as well."
Gina was dumbstruck at Evelyn's short speech, she didn't think she was hurting someone by not hurting someone. She didn't think that someone would still care for her. She was at a loss for words so she simply nodded at Evelyn.
Evelyn smiled and her eyes lit up at Gina's response. She tugged at her hand once again, and pulled her to her feet. She turned to Michael who was still trying to fend off a fly and said, "We should go now, if you're done playing with your new friend."
Michael scowled at her, then glared at the fly, turning back to her he nodded and grumbled, "Right, let's go, your majesty."

"Do you want to talk about it?" Evelyn asked softly.
Gina shook her head. She was now in her room, a blanket draped around her shoulders and all freshened-up. Evelyn shoved some soup down her throat because Gina had denied everything to eat. She had become a bit annoyed by Gina's constant denial and forced some soup into her mouth. She had to eat, unless she wanted to die. Which Evelyn hoped was not the case.
