Protecting Mr. Wimp

Chapter 17

She felt like she had some kind of un-explainable disease. She felt happy and excited. What was happening to her? And, whenever she heard the word 'shopping' she wanted to squeal. This was... The best feeling ever!

She hasn't felt like this in years! She can't remember the last time she was this excited. Mrs. Travis just accomplished a miracle, she can't help but grin. This is just so exciting! She wondered what the mall would be like, it has to be amazing! She has heard every girl squeal for a chance to go to the mall. Although, spending money is not a suitable thing to do right now, she just has to do it! She must have a few extra bills to spend, Mr. and Mrs. Travis do pay her a lot. A little spending wont hurt, would it? She thought about it for a minute. No, absolutely not.

She frowned slightly for a moment, Mrs. Travis didn't take her shopping yesterday though. She just said, 'Then get ready for it'. Is she hinting that the mall is a dangerous place or something...? Her frown deepened and she shook her head then smiled again, she wouldn't let that thought dampen her happy mood, she hasn't been this happy in like, forever! She has to be happy right now, it feels good. Thinking that, she smiled wider and shoved a spoon full of cereal in her mouth.

"Why are you all Little Miss Sunshine all of a sudden?" Michael's voice broke her out of her reverie.

She looked up from her breakfast, still grinning. "No reason."

His eyes widened in shock when he saw her grin at him, something wasn't right here. He gave her a suspicious look, "Oh really?"

"Yes, really."

"You're lying."

"No, I'm not. Why would you think that?"

"Because you never smile at me, your face always has this angry look whenever you look at me."

"Well then, you should cherish this moment while it lasts."

"I don't..." Then, it dawned on him at what she was doing so he scowled, "Don't try to change the subject!"

"You're pretty slow, you know that?"

"No, I'm not."

"Yeah, you are. It took you at least ten minutes to figure out that I was successfully changing the subject."

"No you..." He scowled again, "Stop changing the subject and tell me what's got you so happy!"

She shot him a sweet smile and stood up, "I don't think so." With that, she walked out of the kitchen, only to bump into Mrs. Travis who smiled genuinely at her.

She held in the questions that bombarded her mind at the sight of the marvellous woman in front of her, like, what's it like to go shopping? Is everything available there? Is the mall only a girl's thing? How much money should we have if we're going shopping?

"Gina? Gina?" Mrs. Travis waved her hand in front of her face, looking concerned.

"Yes, huh? What?" She shook her head to clear her mind.

Mrs. Travis laughed slightly, "I said, go get ready. We're going now, Rob has finished cleaning up the car and-" Gina squealed and hopped a bit, hugging Mrs. Travis tightly and cutting off whatever she had to say. She laughed, "I never would've guessed you'd be this excited."

Gina's eyes widened and she immediately pulled away, embarrassed, "Uh, sorry. It's just that-"

"No worries, dear! You don't need to apologise for being excited. Now, hurry up and get ready, the sooner the better."
