Protecting Mr. Wimp
Chapter 15
"Run, Gina, run!" The man told her hastily, trying to protect his daughter.
"No, Daddy! I can't leave without you!" She sobbed, clutching tightly onto her dad.
Her Dad looked at her worriedly, "Please, Gina. He will be back and we can't loose you."
"No! I don't want to leave you!"
The woman stepped forward and knelt down to become eye level with her daughter, she smiled at her sadly and cupped the little girl's cheeks, "Gina, please, look at mommy." The little girl looked at her mommy with glassy eyes, "Mommy and Daddy will be alright Do you love us?" The girl nodded, "Then please, take your sister, and go"
She shook her head, "But, what about you?"
Her Dad took her hand, "We will always be in your heart."
"Can I see you in my heart?"
"Anytime, Sweetie..." He smiled at her sadly.
"How?" She sniffed.
"Just close your eyes," She did, "Take a deep breath, and imagine us in your head."
The little girl smiled a bit, imagining her parents in her head, "I see you! I see you!"
The man smiled again, wiping away his own tears as his daughter opened her eyes, "Be strong, my little fighter." He kissed her forehead.
She nodded and whispered, "Okay."
Suddenly they heard footsteps approaching them. The woman quickly went over to the bed and picked up a little baby girl, she kissed her and hugged her one last time and gave her to Gina.
"Take care of your sister." She whispered as she knelt down, hugging and kissing her on the cheek.
"I will mommy." She said, nodding.
Her Dad picked her up and placed her on the window sill, "Remember what Mommy said, take care of your sister alright?" She nodded, "And, don't forget what I said." He hugged her one last time, whispering, "I love you sweetheart."
"I love you too, Daddy." She whispered.
"Now go, hurry!" He said, as the footsteps sounded closer than before.
She nodded and waved good bye to her mom who was crying, why was she crying? She didn't know, but doing as her Dad told her she escaped quickly and ran far away from the house. Running as fast as her legs could carry her.
'Mommy and Daddy's going to be okay, they're going to be okay.' She chanted to herself.
She heard faint sounds of gunshots going off in a distance and she froze in her tracks, she glanced back, her eyes wide, 'No, no, no it's not mommy, it's not daddy. They're okay.' She tried to calm herself and kept moving on, but she felt that something wasn't right.
She ignored that thought and kept moving on. 'No, Daddy's strong, Mommy's strong. They're okay.' She kept reminding herself, her heart pounding in her chest.
'Good bye, Gina.' A familiar voice whispered in her head.
