Protecting Mr. Wimp

Chapter 31

She took a deep breath trying to calm her nerves. This was it. She was finally going to let it out, and to Michael and Evelyn of all people. Michael, who had irked her to no end and Evelyn, the girl who she had barely even known for a week. Yet, still, she was going to tell them everything.

Honestly, she was tired of holding on to the past. Look where it had gotten her, it just caused her pain, pain and a hell lot of more pain. Betrayal, her first friend had betrayed her just to find out about her past.

She realized then, that it was her past that kept hurting her, that kept coming back to her no matter how hard she tried to push it away it managed to come back and hurt her in the most painful way possible, so the only way to end it, was to let it all out.

She had never done this before, she had never spoken about her past to anyone and now when she had decided to do it. It was nerve-wracking for her.

She ran a hand through her hair and sighed, she was taking her time and no one was pressuring her about it, for that she was a bit grateful but her anger towards Michael and Evelyn hadn't completely vanished, yet. She was still mad about what they had done.

She took a deep breath again and decided to speak, it was now or never. 'Let's get this over with,' She thought.

She cleared her throat and Michael and Evelyn started looking intently at her, ready to listen to the words that they had been waiting for.

She took in another shaky breath, and closed her eyes, hoping that it would lessen the pain. Here goes nothing...

"My parents died when I was ten," She was determined to keep her eyes closed until she finished. She wasn't going to open her eyes right now, it will only make the tears fall and she does not want to cry. "My dad used to be a street fighter, and he was really good at it too. And of course, doing something as risky as street fighting wasn't a walk in the park, enemies and threat came along with it and my dad knew."

"When I turned six, he started to teach me the basic moves of fighting, he said it was self-defense but I was still confused, I used to think that I wouldn't need to learn this stuff because... because I thought my dad will always be with me. I was wrong, very wrong."

"One day my mom woke me up in the middle of the night, telling me that I had to run away, I didn't know why. Of course, I was just ten, but I still knew that something wasn't right. That night I heard footsteps, yelling, banging of doors and I was scared... I was so scared..."

She took in another deep breath, trying to keep herself calm. Then continued, "I started crying but my mom comforted me, taking us to one of the rooms downstairs, Abby's room. My dad came in right after my mom did, he told me to be strong, he told me to fight for what I want, he told me to take care of Abby. And I had a dreaded feeling inside me, something told me that this would be the last time I would be meeting my parents, but I ignored it."

"My mom was so beautiful, so loving and so caring. I had never seen her so sad and scared before, but that night... the fear in her eyes... it frightened me as well, I was scared for her. But she urged me to run, run away with my sister. She told me she would always love me and I knew she would, but I still didn't know why she was saying those things, I was scared for her but I left. I left them and I feel horrible for it, I should never have left them."

Another deep breath, "Days after I had ran away from home, I decided to go back. I figured that maybe they had something to do there and they told me to leave for a while, with that little hope, I went back. What I saw wasn't what I expected at all."
