Protecting Mr. Wimp

Chapter 6

Gina sighed and looked over at Michael’s sleeping figure. Why is that she has to be awake while he rests? Oh yeah, she’s supposed to ‘protect’ him. Sometimes she just wants to rip her hair off; she’s the only one with a job like this. She remembers the day like it was yesterday…

Flashback

“Ugh” she swung her fist towards the bald and bulky man, it collided with his jaw. He stumbled backwards and crashed into the dumpster. The people cheered.

She blew away the piece of hair that had fallen onto her face out of her eye as the man stood up, wiping the blood from his mouth from the back of his hand and looking at her with a frustrated expression. She stayed in position. He took a few slow steps then broke into a sprint, heading towards her. She smirked; she knew how to handle this very well.

As soon as the man’s fist was inches away from her face, she grabbed his arm and threw him over her shoulder. The man let out a groan as his back hit the ground. The crowd cheered louder.

She turned and smirked at everyone, people threw money at her and she collected it. This was her life. She felt a hand grabbing her ankle; she turned around and kicked the man in the face, now knocking him un-conscious.

She scowled at the man’s un-conscious figure as people continued cheering for her and giving her money for her fighting skills. She turned back to the crowd, smiling smugly. But when she saw a man in a black coat coming towards her with a wad of cash in hand, her smile dropped. As much as she needed the money, she didn’t want to know why he had come.

End of Flashback

She sighed again. She has to admit all those years of fighting actually paid off, but in the worst ways possible.

Michael mumbled something under his breath and turned in his seat, still sleeping. She scowled at him; he’s looking so peaceful while sleeping, why the hell is he looking so peaceful?! Oh, right… it’s normal for people to look peaceful why they’re sleeping, that’s why. Ugh, the sleep was getting to her mind.

She stared at the road, trying to keep awake. Mr. Travis told her that he had another hotel room booked for them just another few miles away; she has to get there before tomorrow morning! She cannot sleep no matter what!

She struggled to keep her eyes open, they were driving in the middle of nowhere so that means there’s not much of a threat of crashing into something. Her eyelid’s drooped a bit and she fell asleep but her head fell on the horn and she jolted awake. She gripped the steering wheel, determined to keep her eyes open.

She glanced at Michael to see if he was awake because of the loud horn, but he just stirred a little, still sleeping. She cursed under her breath; half wishing that he would’ve woken up.

She glared at the road ahead of her; it would be over soon she reminded herself. She glanced at the meter of the fuel tank and it was almost empty. Now, where would she find a gas station in the middle of nowhere? Her expression darkened, thing’s couldn’t get any worse!

The drive seemed never-ending but her fuel tank was almost empty, the truck would stop, in the middle of nowhere. Her eyes widened, she does not want to be stuck with Michael in a deserted area!
