Protecting Mr. Wimp

Chapter 7

Gina huffed and walked away as Michael followed, "Gina! Wait up!"

She stopped and turned to him, "What now, Travis?"

He panted and looked at her pleadingly, "You're walking too fast!"

"So?"

"Slow down!"

"So we'll get there a week a later?"

"Can we just stop and rest?"

"We wouldn't have to if you hadn't driven my one and only truck into that ditch!" She snapped and turned around, walking away.

He followed, "Seriously, you're still upset about that?" She glared at him and he rolled his eyes at her, then sighed, "I didn't do it on purpose"

"Of course you didn't do it on purpose; you're just a bad driver. Who can blame you for that?"

He rolled his eyes, "Look, I'm sorry okay? What do you want me to do? Buy you a new one? I'll do that as soon as I'll get home"

"I don't want anything from you"

"You are taking my money"

"That's not the point, thanks to you we're stuck in the middle of nowhere with no means of transportation!"

"You can't blame all of this on me" He scowled at her and she glared at him. Finally, he huffed and said, "Let me make it up to you"

She stared at him for a moment, thinking about the offer, then smirked at him and said, "You know what? I'll take that offer"

He gave her a confused glance but kept silent from then, he doesn't want to argue anymore.

So, they walked... and walked and... Let’s just say that they kept on walking. It seemed that the Hotel was quite far from what they had expected, they were surrounded by the woods and there was no sign of civilization. Suddenly, Michael stopped, bending to place his hands on his knees to catch a few breaths.

When Gina realized that he wasn't following anymore, she turned to him and eyed him with an annoyed expression, "What do you think you're doing, Travis?"

"Trying... to... breathe" He said between gasps.

"Come on, just a little further"

"No... I can't..."

She huffed, looking up at the sky she saw that it was getting dark so she sighed and muttered, "Okay, let's set up camp"

"Finally!" He exclaimed, straightening up and running off into the forest.

"Michael, wait!" She called after him and cursed under her breath for the lack of her speed. She had to keep up with him; she doesn't want him to get lost.

She chased after him, getting deeper and deeper into the forest. Michael was almost out of sight, she can't lose him. She pushed herself, trying to run with all she's got. Soon, he stopped in front of a log. She jogged to a stop, panting.

He sat on the log and looked over at her, grinning, "Now, you know how I felt"

She rolled her eyes and sat next to him, "Whatever"

"Way to end a conversation"

"I don't feel like arguing" She said, stretching out her legs, "Go and build me a shelter"

At first he thought she might be kidding, but then she looked at him and raised her eyebrows, "Are you serious?"

She rolled her eyes, "No, I'm joking"
