I finally went back to school. It was spread throughout the school that I was in an accident. Bunch of people asked me a bunch of questions. But not because they cared. Some even made comments that I was just being dramatic or that it's probably just some small accident and why didn't I die.
I missed Jace but he didn't came to school today.
It was lunch, and Jay invited me to sit with him and his friends. There were Cameron, Bryce, Axel and of course Ryan.
All familiar faces that once made my life a living hell now all at one table.
All of them staring at each other then at me then back. Believe me, I felt way awkward than them.
Finally, Cameron spoke, "so you don't hate her anymore?"
Jay hesitated for a moment, "Yea... something like that. Get used to it."
"Well, uh hi?" He said to me.
Honestly I'm quite terrified to sit there. All of the people that once tortured me. I didn't dare to make any sudden move or anything afraid that I'll anger them.
"Come on, we're sorry, you don't have to be so careful. We won't beat you up again. Gosh." Bryce impatiently said.
"That's your way of an apology?" Jay sniped.
He sighed, "we're sorry ok." The others nodded in agreement.
The rest of lunch it was mostly just then talking, laughing, once in a while joked about me. I knew they only apologised because Jay asked them too, but people gotta look forward right.
Ryan however have been awfully quiet today. Just few minutes before the bell rang he spoke,
"Uh guys. So uh, I'm leaving next week." He said looking down.
"What? To.. to go to a trip?" Axel asked.
"No, I'm going to Dalton High."
All the laughs and chuckles ceased as they all stared at him.
"Come on, are you kidding? We said we're gonna graduate together." Cameron grumbled.
"Dalton High? That school sucks, I heard my brother said the people there are jerks." Jay added.
People here aren't really nice too, I thought to myself.
"I don't really have a choice, so..." Ryan said while nodding slowly. "Well, don't act like I'm gone yet I still have a week though." He scoffed.
I didn't say anything but I felt a little sad. He was my first crush after all. And just when things were finally starting to get better he had to leave.
Two weeks later*
A lot happened in two weeks. My injuries got better, with all their support and love I'm coping a little better with my father's passing, and Ryan....Last week, the day before he left he pulled me aside.
"Hey, uh." He popped out.
I stared at him.
"I wanna uh talk to you." He paused. "So, I wanted to tell you that uh,"
I listened carefully.
"You have broccoli on your teeth." He tried to hold his laughter.
"Oh my god, Ryan! Seriously?" I quickly tried to clean it feeling embarrassed.
He laughed, "hey, uh," his laughed quieten down. "I'm sorry."
I stared at him in disbelief.
He looked down and smiled shyly. "I was being childish, you know, making fun of you all the time. And hey, you're a great girl. Really great. And it sucks that I'm only realising that now. Ugh." He scratched his head.
He scoffed, "anyways, I guess that's it for us."
I bit my lip, feeling down now that he's actually leaving. WHY!!
"Yeah, I uh guess that's it." I faked a smile.
He chuckled, "gosh, lighten up, I'm not dying."
I chuckled as well, trying to absorb what probably is his last joke.
"Hey, what are you thinking." Andrew knocked my head knocking me back to my sense.
"Uhhhh nothing?" I paused. "Anyways bye I'm leaving for school." I grabbed the sandwich and stuffed it in my mouth.
"I'm not done yet." Blake shouted from the kitchen.
"Me too." Andrew said, looking confused.
"It's ok I'm walking." I waved and ran out the house.
Honestly in this two weeks, I could say my life has gotten much better besides the fact my dad passed. But I'm trying to heal. I joyfully hopped into the school meeting Jace.
"Hey." He gave me the brightest smile. "Go to history together?"
I nodded with a smile on my face and went with him.
I actually get excited for school nowadays. I made a few friends although I know a huge reason for my life getting better was because people knew I was Jay's sister, so they didn't dare to pick on me anymore. But still, enjoy it I guess.
Things was getting better, besides the fact I sometimes cry in the night by myself or try to not think about the sadder things.
*Blakes point of view*
I arrived at school, late again having partying too hard at Anderson's last night."Hey babe," I ran forward and put my arm around Haley's shoulder.
She backed away, "who's your babe?" She jokingly said. "Not so fast."
We both laughed. Yes she still hasn't officially accepted me yet, but we've been hanging out and our relationship has gotten close. So we were chatting and heading towards biology together, when one of my friend suddenly pulled me aside and said, "bro you heard? Heather is back."
I stared at him speechless, not knowing how to react. "You uh, you sure? When did she come back?" I asked.
"She came back to town just last week. I thought you'd know. Anyways I'm gonna get going." He then strolled off.
I spaced out for a moment until Haley called me, "hey, hey! You ok?" She asked.
I quickly came back to my senses, "ya ya I'm good, uh let's go."
