It was a peaceful Saturday morning I just woke up to. That is, until a shout broke my peace. It's one of the very few times I've heard mom scream.

"NO THIS PLATE GOES TO THAT TABLE!" Rose shouted, probably at Andrew who always messes up.

I quickly brushed my teeth, popped into a comfortable sweater and went down.

"Oh hey honey," Rose greeted me sweetly them once again shouts at Andrew, guess I was right. "I told you not this one."

"Ok ok. Geez, sorry." Andrew apologised unwillingly.

"Hey Emma I made some crab cakes they're in the kitchen you should go get some." Mom's tone suddenly became sweet and gentle.

"What the..." Andrew complained.

"You keep working, don't even think about eating." Rose said to Andrew.

I chuckled as I grabbed a crab cake. "Mmmmm, it's good. What's the occasion?" I asked, looking at all the delicious food served on the table.

"Well, the boys' cousins and their aunts and uncles are coming over." She said smiling.

"Hey honey," my dad just came back holding two bags of groceries. "When will they reach?"

"Anytime now." Rose replied.

I sat on the sofa scrolling through my phone when suddenly a car pulled over in front of our house. I was nervous and excited at the same time meeting them. I'm kind of an introvert so yep. Maybe there'll be a girl or my age and we could be friends.

Then came in a family,

"Terrence, Sharon nice to meet you guys." Mom and dad hugged both of them. "Andy, Aaron and Aidan. You guys have grown quite a lot huh."

Three of the brothers smiled and greeted them back. Sean then came down and called Aaron who's about the same age as him. Andy and Aidan went upstairs to look for I don't know who.

I continued sitting in the living room since I didn't know anyone. Then came another family with two kids, boys. Ok. Then another with three boys. They waved and gave me a smile which I shyly returned.

Soon the house was filled with people. And until now all their children were boys. Finally, I assume was the last family arrived. 3 boys and a finally, a girl.

Everyone was occupied with guests so I just sat alone shyly. Then some of the cousins approached me. It's like they were all fascinated by the fact that I'm a girl and I soon discovered why.

"Oh hey, are you Jay's friend?" A guy casually sat down beside me along with two other guys.

"Oh where are my manners, I'm Ralph."

"I'm Mason."

"I'm Oliver."

"Are yall dumb? She's their stepsister. Weren't you guys at Aunt Rose' wedding? Gosh, hi I'm Brooklyn, 17, you can call me Brooke." She shook my hand. "Finally, a girl."

"Whatever smart ass." They rolled their eyes at her.

"So the thing is, as you can see there are only boys, ugh disgusting," she started.

"Hey, we're right here." Mason whined.

"I don't know if it's some freaky curse or what, but they only give birth to boys. I'm adopted and these two, Ralph and Oliver are my older brothers. I have another brother which I don't know went where. However," she reinforced the 'however' "they act like they're younger than me."

"Oh do we?" Oliver asked sarcastically.

"Yes you do, I just said that dumb ass." She slapped the back of his head earning a groan from him.
