"Why didn't you come yesterday?" Jace popped up beside me.
"Uh.... I overslept?" I lied.
"Jay and his brothers didn't come as well." He told me, but I already knew that since we lived together.
Should I tell Jace that the Carters are my stepbrothers? Would he get mad if he found out himself?
I started overthinking like I always do but quickly snapped myself out of it.
"Uh, are you listening?" Jace moved his face in front of mine.
"Uh, yeah sorry, I zoned out." I awkwardly said.
Then he smiled at me. "You're cute." He softly said.
My heart fluttered.
We were having lunch when suddenly a girl came to our table.
"Is this seat taken?" She asked.
"Uh no."
"Thanks." She pulled the chair and sat down.
Me and Jace both stared at her. She had black hair, green eyes and she looked like the kind of person you don't wanna mess with.
"What?" She chewed her food while asking. "Oh, I'm Lexi."
"Just so you know, I'm uh, sometimes picked on?" I told her. I started telling people who tries to approach me that I'm picked on so they don't blame me when sometimes they get dragged into the bully thing as well like how it happened before.
"So?" She continued eating.
"Oh, just uh, telling you." I shyly said.
She chuckled a little. "I like you. Let's be friends."
"S.. sure." Me and Jace were still staring at her.
She stared back at us, "what?" She let out a deep sigh. "I'm new, from Westwood high. Enough of a introduction?"
"Uh of.. of course." I quickly looked away. "I'm Emma and this is Jace."
"Oh are you two like, a thing?" She smiled slyly.
"No no no." I exclaimed.
"Ok ok, you didn't have to overreact." She laughed.
"I'm sorry." I scratched my head looking down and laughing awkwardly.
"I'm sorry about my friend here. She's socially awkward." Jace teased me. "Welcome to Kingston High."
"Hey!" I hit him and he groaned followed by laughter from us three. A genuine happiness I haven't felt for a long time.
*Ringggg*
I was at the lockers trying to get my chemistry books except... I was tripped by Zara on the way. I fell as well as all my other books I was holding. I groaned in pain as I slowly got up."What do you want?" I asked Zara who has Derek's hands all over her.
She scoffed. "Excuse me? You stepped and dirty my shoes. Now get down and clean it up." She threw a cloth at my face then pointed to her shoe as she stretched her leg out.
I couldn't stand up for myself. I didn't dare. I sighed and rolled my eyes then got down and started cleaning her shoe.
She and Derek laughed. "Oh is little Emma angry?"
Just then Andrew suddenly came. Zara quickly pushed Derek's hands away from her waist. Then she helped me up.
"Emma, I said it's ok you accidentally stepped on my shoes." She held both my hands saying.
Andrew places his hand around Zara's shoulder. "Ugh why are you so nice to her. I thought we didn't like her."
"I know, but I really just can't be mean to this little angel." She smiled to me so genuinely I almost believed her.
"You're too nice." He stared at her, slowly turning into a smile. "That's why I love you so much." Then kisses her and walked away with her.
Zara turned around and looked at me, pointed at Andrew behind him then mouthed, "he's dumb as fuck."
Although Andrew is not the nicest to me, I hated seeing him getting manipulated by her. I had to tell him.
I slung my bag over my shoulder and happily hopped out the class when school was over. I met Jace and we walk and talk all the way out. We waved each other goodbye and went our separate way. By now it was already normal for me to walk home. I passed a shop just outside of school like I always did. But I was blocked on my way home, by the guy that claimed Sean slept with his girlfriend, and his other friends.
"Oh hey Emma, it's you again. Long time no see." Kalgan along with his tempting British accent gave me a devious smile.
I froze in fear remembering what he did to me last time and what he'll do this time. He has quite the unforgettable face and a all too distinguishable British accent.
"Wh... wha... what do you-"
"Want?" He cut me off. "Stuttering? Afraid much?" He kept his hands in his pockets and slowly walk towards me backing me up to the wall. "It's ok. Nothing'll happen if Sean just came. I just need you as leverage, if he doesn't."
He then picked me up and sling me over his shoulder like I'm a sack of potatoes.
"Let me down." I started hitting his back and kicking around aimlessly. His grip got harder and more painful.
"I'm telling you, you, are angering me. And this anger will be channeled towards you if Sean doesn't come. You better fucking hope he does." He warned me.
I stopped struggling. Just then,
"You fucking put her down!" Sean shouted from afar.
"Oh I see you came." Kalgan slowly placed me back down.
I quickly ran over to Sean.
"You ok? He did anything to you?" Sean asked me concerned.
I shook my head then he nodded and pulled me behind him.
He then turned around and stoop to my height, "Emma, I'm gonna ask you to go home. You know the way right?"
I nodded slightly. "But what about you?"
"We've got a conversation to have." He then pushes me to get on my way.
Sean's point of view-
I was just scrolling through my phone when Kalgan that piece of shit suddenly called me. I rolled my eyes and picked it up."You'll meet me behind the shop outside of Emma's school."
"Why would I do that?" I replied cockily.
"If you don't, I'll beat up Emma. No big deal."
Then he hung up. I was boiling in anger. I clenched my fists in anger and immediately ran out. I hate it when people threatened me.
I arrived where he asked to meet and saw Emma over his shoulder. I demanded for him to let her down. I quickly send her home because I plan to beat the shit out of Kalgan and I wouldn't want her to see that.
"So, finally you're here." Kalgan said cockily in his stupid British accent.
"What the fuck do you want?" I challenged him. "You know well you and your friends here can't beat me. I'll beat the shit out of you and it won't break me a sweat."
He scoffed then laughed. "You really think I didn't know that? Let me tell you what. You, are going to be a good boy and not fight back at all. And I'll tell you why.
