Deeks POV

I almost catch her, swimming as fast I possibly can, avoiding the other people that are swimming in the deep end. Just as I’m about to reach her, she ducks under the water and I bang into the old man from earlier. He glares furiously at me, but I decide to ignore him, instead turning around and putting my anger into swimming faster. I hear Kensi’s witch cackle coming from right behind me but before I turn around, she ducks me under the water.

When I rise back up to the water, I glare at her as she cackles next to me, clearly enjoying herself.

“That was mean!” I say, trying to act upset but knowing that I’ll fail.

“Whatever,” She gets out between laughter. I move next to her and wrap my arm around her shoulder. She stiffens and obviously thinks I’m going to get my revenge, but I don’t. Instead I kiss her quickly before grabbing her hand and pulling her back to the deepest end. I’ll get my revenge later.

“Looks Kens, they’ve got loads of water slides! Come with me?” I request, pointing at the slides.

“Yeah okay,” She replies. I take her hand as we get out of the pool and make our way up the stairs to the slides. I feel her squeezing my hand quite tightly but I presume it’s because of the height. She didn’t like me talking about it, but she’s terrified of heights.

“Hey, it’ll be fine princess,” I whisper, wrapping my arm around her waist. She just nods quickly and averts her eyes. We queue in silence after that, waiting patiently for our turn. When we’re in sight of the rides, I start to get really excited. I love water rides as much as I love surfing, and that’s defiantly saying something. When we’re almost at the top, Kensi suddenly pulls away from my embrace and backs away a bit. I notice that she’s visibly shaking and has paled.

“Kens, what’s wrong?” I ask, ignoring the people staring at us.

“I can’t do it Deeks, I’m sorry,” She replies before jogging down the stairs. I quickly follow her, really worried. What was going on?

When I reach the bottom of the stairs I see her dive into the water and quickly swim away. I jump in after her, wanting to reach my girlfriend as soon as possible. She stopped at the very empty side of the deep end, obviously waiting for me.

“Kens, what’s wrong?” I ask, slowly moving closer to her.

“I’m sorry,” She whispers, obviously trying to calm herself down. I move so I’m right next to her, holding on the side of the pool so I don’t drown.

“Princess you don’t need to be sorry! But what happened?” I repeat, wrapping my other arm around her waist and pulling her closer to me.

“I just, I don’t like water rides,” She says, refusing to look at me.

“Then why did you go with me?” I ask, kissing her forehead gently.

“Because I know how much you love them,” She whispers, resting her head on my shoulder.

“Oh Kensi,” I whisper, holding my girlfriend as close as I can, hating myself for making her come with me.

“I’m sorry Deeks, I’m so much tougher than this,” She mumbles.

“I know you are, you’re tougher than me and that’s tough,” I mumble back.

“Deeks go on the rides,” She says a few minutes later, pulling away from my hug.

“What?” I ask, confused.

“I know you love those rides, go on them,” She repeats, pointing at the water slides.

“No, I’m not leaving you,” I say dramatically.

“Deeks, we’re at a swimming pool, not a shoot out! I’ll wait at the bottom of the rides yeah?”

“Okay! Thanks Kens,” I say, kissing her quickly before climbing out of the pool and jogging carefully over to the stairs. I line up all over again, waiting excitedly for my turn. I looked down through the glass windows surrounding the stairs and see Kensi slowly swimming over to the bottom of the slides. She looks a lot happier now, although there’s still a slight twinge of fear on her face when she eyes the slides.

When it’s my go, I happily sit at the top and push myself down, grinning as I’m shoved from side to side, turning tight corners in the dark. After almost being flipped upside down, I see the light and I take a huge breath as I’m plunged into the pool. When I come back up, I see Kensi smiling at me, her hand out for me to take.

She pulls me up and I sit next to her on the ledge, grinning like mad.

“That was epic!!!” I declare. She laughs at me, kissing my cheek quickly.

“Go on another one then!” She says, still laughing a little at me.

“Kensi, you see that tiny slide over there?” I ask, pointing a smallish blue waterslide. There’s no queue for it, since it’s the least exciting one. It’s open air, not at all high and has no twists in it.

“Yeah?” She asks, looking over at it.

“We could go on it together? It’s open air, virtually no heights and I can go with you,” I suggest.

“Only if we go at the same time,” She agrees, grinning at me. I nod my head, kissing her softly.

“Okay, come on,”

We quickly make our way over to the slide, climbing the few steps to the top. I sit at the top of it and let her sit between my legs. I wrap my arms around her waist, making sure she feels safe.

“You okay Kens?” I ask, not wanting to go down unless she’s completely okay with it.

“Yeah, I’m good,” She replies, nervously eyeing the bottom of the slide.

“Three,”

“Two,”

“One,”

“GO!” We shout, pushing at the same time and sliding down the ride. We plunge into the water at the bottom; arm’s still wrapped around each other. We come up from the water, coughing and spluttering but with massive grins on our faces.

“That was epic!” She says, mimicking my words from earlier, “Let’s go again!”
