Chapter 30~ I Miss You

My morning was warm and cosy, making me think that today would be a special day. I sat up and looked out the window to see piles of snow on the ground. The snow fairies must have visited Germany last night.

I jumped out of bed and ventured over to the door, but when I opened it, I froze. One of Ludwig's dogs was standing in the doorway. We were about the same height, he might have been a little taller. This one was his Golden Retriever.

How do I know its breed? Well, let's just say that dogs have been around for quite some time.

He stared at me, examining my every feature. He took one step towards me as his nose captured my scent. He seemed pretty calm and loyal, but I still tried to keep my breathing under control. Although, he just stood there, staring at me, as if he was waiting for me to do something.

"Nice doggie," I cooed as he took another step towards me.

He probably only answers to German...

"Sitzen," I commanded.

He sat straight up, ready for the next order. This time I walked towards him, into the hallway. I slowly put my hand out so he could capture my scent perfectly. He sniffed it happily and licked the back of my hand. I closed the gap between us and petted his head. He then started to lick my face which made me giggle.

The dog isn't scary at all! He must just be a love bug, or a puppy at heart.

"Aster!" Ludwig called.

Aster ran to his master and Ludwig gave him affection.

"Sorry about zhat," he apologized as I followed Aster's path.

"N-No it's alright. Aster's very n-nice, I think h-he likes me," I rubbed behind his ears and he yawned.

"Vell, I have two more dogs und I'm not sure how zhey vill react to jou," he said as he picked me up with ease, "Jou're very light."

"I-I've noticed."

Aster followed us downstairs and into the kitchen. Everything was fine until the dogs caught sight of me. The two other dogs were excited to see their master, but they were also alert because there was someone else in the house that they weren't aware of. They jumped up and tried to nip at my feet as I held onto Ludwig for dear life.

"Berlitz! Blackie! Nach unten!" Ludwig commanded.

Aster sprang into action and growled defensively at his siblings. The other two flinched at their brother's actions, but they kept their ground. The house was silent except for Aster's growls. The tension was so thick you could cut it with a knife. Then, Blackie and Berlitz walked away to their food bowls, accepting defeat.

"I guess he really does like jou..." Ludwig commented

"Mein bruder is coming to take jou home," Ludwig informed as I took a bite out of some toast.

"H-He is?!" I questioned.

I was curious as to how I was going to get back to Mattie...

"Ja" Ludwig nodded.

"Yay~" I giggled.

"I'm going to miss-a you Bambino..." Feli sighed.

"I'll c-come back one d-day. Aster w-will miss me t-too," I said as Aster came up to me and nudged my leg with his nose. "Gute Aster," I cooed.

Aster licked my leg and sat obediently, waiting for a reward. I looked at Ludwig for permission and he nodded. Then I tossed a link of sausage to him and he happily ate it.
