*Olivine's POV*
Olivia... Her name is Olivia. My 2p-- no, my sister. My other half.
I tried to help her escape from that facility by fusing with her. But due to our size and lack of training, we grew unstable and corrupted ourselves. The impact disrupted our memories up to a certain point. That's why she feels as if I did this to her, as if I ruined her life.
In the end, we lost our psychological connection and drifted apart as the years drew on. We were never really two people, we were one at some time. I was too young to remember what happened, but I do recall a death between us.
The sight of the woman I once knew was in that dream. I remember her crying and calling out one of our names. That day happened so long ago that many countries of today were either babies or didn't exist yet. Just to give you an idea of how old I actually am.
Olivia must have awakened a hidden switch once she forced herself to remember what I had forgotten. I am grateful that she did, although, this now means that something will be after us. The woman will be seachring for us, but she isn't a threat. It's the unknown that scares me.
After all, something had to have happened for the woman to leave us against her will.
An open field materialized before me. However, all I see is green. Green grass, green trees, green bushes, and green moss. Many shades and tints of the color could be seen for miles on end. Not a city or civilization was in sight. Sounds of weeping echoed through the area as I became more aware of my surroundings. The woman that I resembled was holding a very small child in her arms as her person remained close to the ground. My body was even smaller than before, I must have been a toddler.
In my white gown with a red ribbon tired around my neck, I tumbled and played in the clear day. When I crawled closer to her I gazed upon a familiar sight. A pure white child with hair as black as night. A brittle little thing with tiny fingers and puffy cheeks. However, her chest never rose, her eyes never opened.
"Liv?" My little voice called out to my sister.
She never answered.
"Olivine..." the woman placed a hand upon my head then trailed it down to my cheek, "She's gone, darling. Olivia... might never come back."
At the time, I didn't understand what she meant. I was too young to understand that my sister had died. She was born a fragile child, her skin forbade her to play in the sun. With crimson red eyes and hair like the night, her birth was forbidden but a miracle that she survived in the womb.
A sudden pang resonated in my conscious as I placed the pieces together.
"Mama..."
That's why we look so much alike, it's because she is my mother.
"Olivine... I'm so sorry. I failed as a Mother... If only I were stronger..." her voice trailed off as her voice faded.
"Mama?" I called out. "Mama!"
~Present time~
I found tears streaming down my face when I opened my eyes. The fluffy blanket that was wrapped around me made no difference in my current emotion. Now that I know the truth, my mind wouldn't accept the reality that I was in. My mother may not still have a physical form, she may be long gone by now.
