~The next morning~

*Matthew's POV*

The batter simmered in the non-stick pan, slowly browning on the underside. I hummed my favorite song as I waited for it to turn a golden brown color. Then a pair of arms came from behind and squeezed me snuggly.

"Guten morgen Birdie~" Gil cooed in my ear.

"Bonjour," a smile tugged at my lips.

Gil nuzzled my neck then kissed my cheek. My face lit up as he squeezed my waist. He started to leave little kisses along my shoulder, making me shiver.

"Gil~ I'm making pancakes..." I softly smiled.

"Und I'm making love~" he continued, not letting go.

"Well at least stand back, I'm going to flip it," I readied the pan.

"Vithout a spatula?"

"Oui."

He let go of me and stood back as I gave the pan a little jerk. The pancake perfectly flipped on its uncooked side. Gil returned to his place on my body, resting his head on my shoulder.

"You're not going to leave that spot, are you, eh?" I turned my head to face him.

"Nope," he answered as he kissed my lips.

Once the pancakes were made and the table was set, I went to wake up Olivine. But before I could make it halfway across the room, a hand caught my wrist.

"Gil?" I turned to face him.

His cheeky grin caught me off guard. I found myself engulfed in his warmth as he kissed me. I tried to pull away but my body wouldn't let me.

"Gil..." I breathed. "I have to... wake up... Olivine..."

He finally let me go so I could breathe. Sometimes I forget how to...

"Oh! I have to zhank her again," his arms wrapped around my lower back as mine did the same to his.

"For what?"

"For not ruining zhe surprise," he kissed my forehead.

"How did you get here so soon?"

"I have mein vays," he kissed me softly.

"I see the birds are up early this morning," a little voice said smartly from behind me.

Gil and I parted as Olivine approached us, rubbing her tired eyes. She smiled but walked right passed us to the kitchen table. But before she could climb into her seat, Gil scooped her up and started to tickle her.

"Jou not going to say 'Guten Morgen' to zhe awesome me?" He teased.

"Guten morgen! Guten morgen! Guten morgen!" she yelled between giggles.

"Guten morgen to jou too!" He smiled.

~~

"Do I smell... vurst? Birdie... jou didn't..." Gil's surprised expression stared at my back as I cooked some sausage.

"Yes, I did. I made them just for you," I smiled slyly.

"Juste pour lui? Et moi ?!" Olivine complained.

"Si tu êtes poli, ils peuvent être pour tu aussi," I spoke softly to her.

She made a pouty face at me, but quickly changed it to a softer and more forgiving one, "Peuvent-ils être pour moi aussi, s'il vous plaît?"

"Bien sûr," I placed the sausages on a plate and placed them in the middle of the table.

Gil excitedly grabbed two links and placed them quickly on his plate.
