Chapter 64~ Never Letting Go

*Ava's POV*

"Why'd you have to pick Rainbow Road?!" I whined as Kacie laughed with confidence.

"It turns the challenge level up to eleven!" She did a fist bump like Dad does all the time.

I sighed as I selected Toad as my character and the go-kart as my vehicle. Kacie chose Daisy as her character and a motorcycle as her vehicle. Before starting the race, she leaned over playfully to kiss my cheek.

She shouldn't have done that because I'm irresistible.

She couldn't help but to wrap her arms around my waist and make that adorable expression. Lastly, she kissed me passionately before releasing her hold on me.

"I know you're trying to butter me up, I'm never going to let you win," I smirked.

"Maybe, but I still get bonus points for later," she winked seductively.

My heart skipped a beat and my cheeks turned hot. I hated how she did that to me, but I loved what she does about it.

We settled ourselves as the race was about to start.

The race was on. I started off in first while she remained in third. Through the galaxies and sparkled rainbow colored road we raced. Steering a sharp left, I witnessed a fellow opponent fly off the course and drift into space. Rainbow Road is brutal is you don't have some expertise. Kacie gained a speed boost and zipped right past me, changing my title to third.

"Not so confident now, are you?" she teased.

"Don't get so cocky, I have a little trick up my sleeve..." I eyed her knowingly.

Just as we sped through the first roundabout, I gained the ultimate weapon man has ever known to create.

"RED TORTOISE SHELL OF DEATH!" I exclaimed as I released the kraken.

"NOOOOOOO!" Kacie's impression of Daisy was spot on. She spun out of control and flew out into the awaiting galaxy, putting her in last place.

Sharp turn after sharp turn, I did my best to remain in first place. Kacie was already back on the track and trying to catch up. She made it to fifth place as the second lap began. Daisy used her special attack to climb up the rankings but wasn't close to first. Another jump through space and that's when Olivine's guardian walked in.

"What are you guys playing?" He asked as he sat on the couch behind us. I didn't realize that Kacie and I had slid down off the couch and onto the floor.

"Mario Kart," Kacie replied, not taking her eyes off the screen.

Daisy was now coming up in third as she blasted past another opponent. I grew a bit anxious from her ranking, the final lap was approaching.

"The name's Emma, but they all call me Kacie. Kansas, The Sunflower State, is at your service," Kacie half-flirted, half-introduced herself.

"And I'm Missouri, The Show-Me state. The name's Ava, to be informal. It's nice to officially meet you," I turned back briefly to show some respect.
