The Ember Child fell to the ground as Olivine's shock released her. Cody stood there smiling like nothing ever happened. He wasn't injured, he was made of water after all.
"Hey, this isn't you... What happened? I know you're in there somewhere," Cody spoke soft with a caring expression. If he panicked, her mental state would grow much worse.
His voice brought her back to reality for a split second. Olivine couldn't move; she actually thought that she killed her guardian. With shaking hands, she retracted her sword. Cody's body morphed back together as he studied Olivine's distant gaze. She wasn't quite looking at him, her eyes were darting around frantically, trying to lock onto something.
"Cody?... Where... Where are you?" Her hoarse voice saddened him.
Cody cupped her face and wiped the blood from her little cheeks, "I'm right here. I'm right in front of you."
He stared at her absent-minded state before quickly turning to threaten The Ember Child. Appalled, she tried to flee the scene. Cody wouldn't let that happened before some confrontation.
"Bella! I thought I told you to not interfere!" The power in his voice felt stronger that his waterbending. He conjured a rope of water and wrapped it around her body to keep her from escaping.
"Isa-bella. And why would you think that I'd listen to you, Sea Boy? You and I both know that she has to pay for her absence!" She spat back.
"Not now, not when the world is out of balance. When the E4 is back together, you can do as you please. But not now, not on my watch," he slowly approached her with a dominating aura. Cody rarely gets riled up, but when it comes to the one he loves, he would do anything to protect her.
Isabella caught onto Cody's intentions and glared in disbelief, "You're in love with her, aren't you? Is she why you always left early at the meetings? Is she why you disappeared for millennia at a time? Is she why you turned me down?!"
Cody was caught off guard with Isabella's bombardment of questions. He wanted to explain everything to her to make things right. Although, with every passing second, Olivine's mental state was deteriorating. Olivine comes first, then the crazy stalker.
He gathered his anger and forcefully pushed out his words, "As a matter of fact, yes, Olivine is the reason for all of those things. For once in my life, I felt that I had a purpose to fulfill. Unlike you, I can't just live endlessly for eons with nothing to live for. When she came along, she filled the hole in my chest and completed me. And if you have a problem with that, fight me. Personally."
He then picked up his fragile, fallen love, bridal style and turned back with a piercing gaze, "But if I hear that you've hurt her again... I won't hesitate to extinguish your flames. For good."
Cody released Isabella, he was fed up with bickering with her. His imperious force rattled Isabella to the core. She quickly nodded and tumbled away more frightened she's than ever been before. Cody's cool aura doused the surrounding ignited grass to prevent a blazing fire. He walked up to the mansion as Olivine shuddered uncontrollably in his arms.
"Cody?... Where are you? All I see is darkness..." she gripped his shirt with bloodshot eyes. Her eyes were wide open but the world wasn't visible to her; her deepest memories imprisoned her conscience.
"I'm right here, you're holding onto me. I'm never going to leave you," He kept his heartbeat calm and his voice low. Olivine needed some peace to subside the noises in her head.
Cody came into the mansion and said, "My name is Cody and I'm her guardian. She needs a soundproof room to rest after I clean her up."
Alfred and Ava were still trying to take all this excitement and confusion in. Alfred just nodded as if he understood the situation. Given the approval, Cody moved to the restroom as Olivine's state further worsened. He closed the door behind him and turned on the lights. Then he set her down along the wall and stripped her sodden clothes off. Her body was bruised from the fight with Allen and part of her skin was burned from the fight with Isabella. She finally closed her eyes as naive tears rolled down her face.
