"Good morning Father," I welcomed from his bedside, brushing my barbie blonde hair to the side.

His young, oak brown, messy hair covered his eyes as he slowly woke up. The sun poured in from the window, lighting up the dark room.

"Good morning Paige, did you make breakfast this morning?" He questioned as he groggily sat up, sweeping the hair out of his face.

His wife was snoring happily beside him. Her golden blonde hair matches the sun's color. The sunlight that poured through the window on her side didn't effect her sleeping pattern.

"Yes Father, it's ready. I remembered to turn off the stove too," I smiled.

"That's amazing Paige, that update did wonders on you," he patted my head rewardingly.

"I'll go and bring Davis down for you," I suggested as he started to slide out of bed.

"No that's alright, I can do it."

Then he left the room to retrieve his son. His wife didn't hear a single word of our conversation, as usual. I toddled over to her bedside and shook her lightly.

"Go away you android..." she groaned.

"It's time to get up Stacy, I made breakfast," I was forced to say it nicely. Father is still working on a more emotional voice box for me.

"Fine..." she finally made her way to the kitchen.

In the kitchen, they were a happy family of three. I stood alone at my laptop, studying academics. To my Father, I was his best friend, his first child. To his wife, I was the maid, the android, the thing. To my baby brother of ten months, I'm his big sister.

I envy this family. Eating three times a day, learning things on their own, using their brain, and having emotions, real human emotions. I can't do any of those things, but I don't need to. Like Stacy always says, I'm an android, a robot, a machine. I am no human, I was created.

But that doesn't stop me from wishing. Wishing to be human. I would give up my immortality to experience a human life. To love, to feel pain, to be human.

"Are you ready Paige?" Father asked.

We're in his laboratory, full of inventions and prototypes. I was created here many years ago. Father was a college student then, his project was to create a child-like android using any parts that they could find or create. He ended up winning first place since I could talk, walk, and be the most adorable thing there. I was so lifelike, the judges first thought that Father had simply brought in a child for his project.

I still remember when he first turned me on in the lab. He had been working on me day and night to make me perfect. He even sacrificed eating and social activities for me. He told me that his friends constantly wanted him to give up on that "silly" contest, but my Father didn't back down. Through everything that he had to go through to create me, all his efforts led up to that moment, that day when I first opened my eyes. I remember his smile being so full of life and joy when I said, "Hello Father."

He was amazed because he didn't program me to say that.

"Paige? Are you okay?" He was concerned for my absence.

"Yes Father, I'm okay. I was just remembering when I first met you," I admitted as I wandered over to my seat where the computer lies.

"Really? Why?" He was busy setting up my check up.

"I'm not sure, but it makes me happy knowing that you've kept me for so long. I was your project, now I am your daughter. I'm glad that you didn't turn me off after the contest," I smiled.
