"So y-you're Ivan's b-big sister?" I questioned as Irina made some coffee for herself.
The fire was lit in the living room since the chill really got to me. The fluffy blanket was placed around my shoulders as a warm cup of hot cocoa heated my hands. Tiny marshmallows bobbed up and down in the chocolate sea of sweetness. I almost burnt my tongue from the first sip, I was too impatient to wait. Irina gathered her coffee cup and rested on the winter colored loveseat as I, as usual, became comfortable on the floor.
"Yes, do you have any siblings?" her vanilla scented coffee filled my senses as a hint of hazelnut tickled my nose.
I nodded happily, "America a-and Canada a-are my older b-brothers."
"Are they now?" She sipped her warm confection, "Are they good to you?"
"Yeah! I l-love my big b-brothers! They t-take really good c-care of me--" I was interrupted by a scream, a sob, and useless arguing.
"Natalia, Yao and I are just friends! Little Flower came over by chance, really!" Ivan tried to reason with her.
My chocolate sea swished in my cup as the remains of marshmallows created a creamy smooth color. Irina and I observed the argument as we indulged in our confections. It's best to let this one solve itself.
Natalia sighed and collected her intimidating aura, "Fine, if you say so. But you have to spend a day with me as compensation."
"For what?" Ivan was clearly puzzled.
"You don't... want to spend time with me?" She looked as if she was about to cry.
Ivan placed his hands up in defense, "No, no! I do want to spend time with you--"
"Then why did you question it?!"
"I questioned why you wanted compensation."
"For breaking my heart!" She threw her hands in the air.
"But I didn't even touch you! How could I have broken your heart? You're still alive!"
"Ugh! Big brother, you're so ignorant!" And with that, she stormed out of the house.
"Natalia, come back!" Ivan called out to her.
We heard a distant, "Make up your mind!" From the mountains of snow.
Ivan hung his head low in defeat as Irina set her cup down on the coffee table. The drums played as she made her way over to embrace her younger brother.
"Don't feel sad, she's just on her period," Irina comforted with her motherly pitch.
"Why are girls so confusing?" He sulked.
That, I do not know. I have been around men all my life.
~ Later ~
*3rd person*
Ivan was in his study, sulking. Sulking about his weird sisters. He really did want to spend more time with them, but due to issues within his country, he just doesn't have the time. His smooth mahogany desk was now covered with paperwork that he rather not complete. But, as a country, he had to complete them.
He slid his coat off of his shoulders to place it on the back of his chair. His long scarf remained wrapped around his neck, he rarely ever took it off. To anyone's surprise, he wore an adorable shirt underneath his heavy coat. It was a soft, lilac shirt that said, "Big Bear that needs love" in black letters.
With an arm stretch and a yawn, he got to work. Ivan wasn't aware of the time that had passed, all he knew was that the stack was getting thinner. He worked and worked though the paper cuts and broken pencils. He even forgot to eat, he rarely does that.
