I wasn't any better the next morning. I couldn't hold anything down, not even water. My fever hasn't gone down either, I'm still burning up and dying of hunger. I hate being sick, but it was for a good cause. Well, this means that the virus hasn't left me yet, I guess we have to try something else to make it go away.
Someone knocked on my door.
"Come in," Iggy welcomed from my bed side.
"I can take this shift if you don't mind," Mattie offered.
Everyone has been taking shifts to take care of me, even Gil was pitching in. For the whole day, I've still been able to see them even though I can't leave this room. I can't believe that I mean this much to them.
Iggy nodded and Mattie took over. As he left the room I turned over to Mattie to face him. My body gave out and fell limp halfway through, causing him to become more alert. I used him for support as I finished the simple task and breathed out at how exhausted I was.
"Don't tire yourself out, you're so weak already," his voice was already so quiet and soft.
"B-But I... I w-wanted to s-see you... M-Mattie..." A weak smile barely made it across my face.
"You're so sweet," he smiled.
He dapped my face with the cold washcloth. I could feel my stomach yearn for food but I had to ignore it. I would just throw it back up anyways. Although, because I'm not eating, I'm getting weaker. Because I'm getting weaker, I'm no more than just a body lying in a bed.
So this is what it's like to be a human, huh? Well... I'd rather be an animal than live like this.
"Olivine? What's wrong?" He must have caught onto my thinking.
"I-I don't... want t-to be sick... I f-feel terrible..." I moaned.
"I know you do, but you'll get better. I promise. In a few days you'll be all better and we can go outside and play Mounties. We can scout the area and discover animals, we might even see deer," Mattie's voice always cheers me up.
"R-Really?" I did my best to keep my eyes open.
"Of course," He lightly brushed the hair out of my face and gave me a comforting smile. "You can rest if you need to."
"I-I know... but I'm a-afraid that... i-if I do... I w-won't wake u-up..." The words barely left my mouth.
"Don't be ridiculous, you'll wake up..."
That was the last thing I heard before everything turned dark.
~ Olivine's dream ~
Where... where am I? Everything is so dark. I can only see my body. And my voice echoes...
"Well, well, well, I guess my little plan worked!" A familiar voice echoed among the darkness.
"You again..." I sneered.
"Somebody's not happy~" she laughed.
"Of course not! I'm sick as a dog!" I yelled, balling my fists up in anger.
"And who do you think made you sick?" She pressed with eager.
"Well, the forest did... its soil was tainted..." I answered quietly
"And who do you think tainted the soil?" She was on the verge of laughing.
"... it was you, wasn't it?!"
"Pin pon pan pooon~! Wait, a body hasn't been found... anyways~ you guessed right! Ah~ let's play another game, shall we?"
"Where's your voice coming from? And do you think of my life as a game?! Aren't I your other version? Shouldn't we be connected in some way? STOP TRYING TO KILL ME!" I was about to lose it.
