I looked at the writing on the walls of the caboose. "Where is the army? All dead. All around, they just pulled back." Is what some of the writing said. "Bill, you're reading out loud again. But you were right earlier. Riverside may be overran. Even the past survivors that were in this room agree." Zoey said. "Let's keep going to Riverside to see if my theory is correct." I said. They nodded and Zoey opened the safe room door.
We walked by the traintracks and up onto a platform of a building with some stairs. We went across the top of two train cabs. While walking away from them a jockey jumped on Francis. "GET IT OFF!" He screamed. We killed the jockey and continued our way to Riverside. We passed by a bus which we heard crying of a witch.
She was in the doorway of the house that we were going to go through. So I lead my team through a window and around her very carefully and quietly. We did check around the house for any supplies before leaving. We saw an ambulance in the road as we walked out of the house. "Odd to see an ambulance out here with no driver heh." I said with a small chuckle. "Agree, but no time for that kind of a joke Bill." Zoey said.
"Sorry." I said. She nodded and we walked to a graveyard. "The safe house is inside that church!" Francis said. Then a boomer vomited on all of us. We fought off the horde that followed and killed the boomer. Once our vision cleared up we headed to the church. Francis knocked on the door. "Who's there?! I've got a bell in here!" Said the church guy.
"Let's see, I'm Francis, that's Grandpa Bill, and there's zombies out here! Open the goddamn door!" Francis said. "N-no! I'm not letting you in again!" The guy in the safe room said. "Have a heart, we got a helpless old man with us!" "Hey!" I said in response to what Francis said. Then the church guy rung the bell. "Dinner's here! Come and get it!" He said as he rung the bell.
"I'm going to kill that guy if we live through this." Louis said as we heard the bell go off. We fought off the wave of zombies, killing spitters, boomers, smokers, jockeys and hunters as well. Once the horde stopped coming after us we heard the man say. "Better safe than sorry, better safe than sorry, better safe *growls* than sorry." When we opened the door the man was now an infected himself. He was a boomer and we let Louis kill him.
Once he was dead I closed the door behind us. "Hell yeah!" Francis said. I sighed softly. I can't keep up with them fast enough, but I'm trying to. I don't want to lose my team unless I am sacrificing myself for them. "Bill?" Zoey asked. "Yes?" I asked. "How you holding up?" She asked.
I smiled and nodded at her. She could tell that I was fine. I am worried, but I know that showing weakness in this time isn't the best. I choose to be the leader and I shall make sure I don't show weakness.
We're safe... For now.
