Delilah's Adventures

Chapter XXI

"Now this is a'far as Virgil goes, but y'all can make it to the bridge from here." Virgil said after we got off the boat. "Thanks Virgil! It means a lot that you helped us!" I yelled waving good bye to him. "I'll see if I can help any other folks." Virgil said waving good bye to us as he drove off.

"We made it REAL damn far, people. I'm proud of you. Now let's just cross that last mile." Coach said looking at everyone. I nodded. "Indeed we did. I may not have been with you all for the whole journey, but I've been with you through a lot of this trip." I said smiling at everyone.

"Yeah, this has been fun! But scary too." Ellis said with that childish smile he always has. We walked up the ramp and saw some infected in riot outfits. "These guys remind me of the swat." Nick said. "Were you an ex convict?" I asked looking at him.

"Yes I am. Francis and I have a history, sorta." "Yeah. The only kind of history we have is that we were a part of the same motorcycle club until it disbanded." Francis said after Nick replied to my question.

"Mhm, it did disband." Nick said as we walked through the part of town we were in. As we walked I thought about certain things. We saw jets fly over our heads. "They still flying jets!" Coach said as we walked. I nodded looking at him.

My thoughts though were keeping me from straying from the team, but at the same time weren't keeping me from getting in trouble. "Delilah, are you okay?" Louis asked when we walked through a restaurant. "Uh yeah I'm fine, just thinking." I said softly looking at him. "Oh okay, just was a bit worried about you." Louis said gently kissing my head.

I gave him a gentle smile as we walked to the safe room. Once we got in I closed the door. I looked along the walls to see graffiti left behind by previous survivors. A lot of them were talking about how ceda is gone and that the military is stepping in. "Zoey I think you're in danger here." I said catching everyone's attention. "What do you mean?" Zoey asked.

"Well I have a feeling that the military is killing any carriers of the disease. Which means they would kill you since you're a carrier." "I knew it was better if we were on an island by ourselves." Zoey said. I could tell there was fear in her eyes. I sighed softly. "We'll all make sure none of us die." Nick said which made everyone go quiet.

"I may not like all of you, but over the time that we've spent together I've noticed that we are a good team together. I'm not letting anyone take away what we have." Nick said looking at everyone. Everyone nodded and we all hugged him. Nick squirmed as we did, saw that coming, but he hugged us all back after a moment. Then everyone else went to sleep but Nick and I. "That was really sweet Nick." I said smiling at him.

"I mainly don't want to lose you." Nick mumbled. I just stared at him for a moment. He didn't look at me but I sighed. No time to let this bother me. We moved over some stuff to keep the zombies out. After that we laid down as well. I was between him and Louis as we slept.

We're safe... For now.
