Chapter 9

Jin Ah POV

"Marry me, Yoon Jin Ah. I want to take care of you and your baby. It's okay if you don't love me now or will never love me. I won't ask for it. All I want is to make you and your baby my family. To protect you two. I just want to be your husband and your baby's father. If later, after years or months, if you still can't love me and have found a new love, I promise I'll let you go," he proposed to me in front of my halmeoni and ahjumma.

I am shocked by his sudden proposal. I didn't expect him to ask me for marriage in front of halmeoni. I didn't answer yet because I have no answer for him. It's not because of him, he is a great man who had helped me a lot. I know he can take care of my baby and me too. If I am single and has no strings attached, I will definitely accept him without a doubt. It's because of me. Deep down, I still love Oh Soo, and I do hope for some miracle, although I know it won't happen. I always hope that he will appear in front of me one day, asking for forgiveness and starting back with me. Start back our relationship where we left off. I know it's impossible, but that's my dream. I want to build a family with Oh Soo. Hence it is hard for me to accept him. Not just yet. I know halmeoni wants otherwise for me. She said it's for my own good, but this is about my heart. I can't love someone else other than Oh Soo.

"Jung Hyuk-ssi, I need time to think about this. Please understand. I'm sorry," that's the only answer I can tell him.

Halmeoni sighed, "Jin Ah ya.... wae?". I know she is disappointed with my answer.

"It's not about you, Jung Hyuk ssi. You are the kindest man I ever know. It is about me. I haven't let go of 'him'" I told him the truth as I do not want to lie to him.

He nodded. "I understand. I won't force you," he tried to give me a smile.

I handed him back the ring as I don't think I deserved it, but he pushed it back to me. "Keep it. It's yours."

I know I had humiliated Jung Hyuk ssi and made my halmeoni frustrated, but I cannot lie about my feelings.

It has been a week since Prof Go discharged from the hospital. She is staying with Jung Hyuk and Jin Ah for a while as she needs to have follow-up appointments at the hospital.

Prof Go, ahjumma, and their housekeeper Boram are waiting to watch their daily drama on TV. Jin Ah joined them too.

"Jung Hyuk ssi come home late today?" Prof Go asked both ahjumma and Jin Ah. Usually, only both of them know Jung Hyuk's schedule.

"Yes, he has an emergency case this evening," ahjumma replied.

"Really? He didn't tell me when he texted me this afternoon," there's a slight frustration tone coming out from Jin Ah. Usually, Jung Hyuk will update her on his day, but since last week or to be exact since the proposal day, he distanced himself from her.

"Does he always come back late?" Prof Go asked further.

Ahjumma put her glass on the table after taking a sip of cold water. "He used to be. He is quite a workaholic. But, since Jin Ah came, he seldom works late unless for emergencies and his schedule on calls."

Prof Go nodded and continue to focus on the TV. It has been a while she did not get to enjoy watching Korean TV channels.
