"What does that mean?" Declan asked breaking the silence that had followed Donna' s theory.

"It means that Alyssa is supposed to do the Goddess's bidding," Donna explained. "There is a prophecy about the Vessel coming and uniting humans, witches, and wolves. She will bring an end to the hostilities between the races."

"Are you sure that it's me?" Alyssa asked, trepidation coloring her words.

"Let me consult the cards for you, dear," Donna said as she dug in her bag, searching for the tin she kept her deck in. Pulling out the silver box, she reverently opened it and withdrew a bundle, which she placed on the table before her. "Alyssa, do you have any candles around? Black, preferably."

"Of course," Alyssa said before closing her eyes and concentrating on the candles Donna needed. Within minutes, the office door opened, and five long, black tapers came floating into the room. Alyssa opened her eyes and watched as they arranged themselves into the pattern of the pentagram before lowering to the table top and igniting.

"I see what you mean about your powers growing," Donna commented as she watched Alyssa glance at the door before she heard it click shut, and the flick of the lock engaging. Alyssa watched as Donna shuffled the deck before being asked to shuffle them as well. Once that was done, Donna took the deck back and laid out the spread.

"Your powers are still growing. What you have been given is just the tip of the iceberg right now, but when they are fully matured and mastered, you will be the most powerful witch to walk the earth. You will use your powers for good, and will bring about a great change to the supernatural world," Donna said as she studied the cards before her. Pointing to one card of a young woman with long hair hanging down her back in a white, cotton, summer dress, her feet bare, and a laurel wreath on her head in particular, she glanced at Alyssa. "You truly are the Lady's Vessel."

Alyssa heard what Donna told her as though she were speaking through a long distance, but she sat there with a far away look on her face for a minute before she breathed out, "Marie."

As suddenly as the vision had come, it had left again, and Alyssa was once more aware of her surroundings. Glancing at Declan, she grinned at him before sprinting out of the room and heading up to Marie and Connor's room. Not bothering to knock, she flung open the door.

"You bitch! When we're you going to tell me?!" she asked as Declan caught up to her.

Marie looked up as the door crashed against the wall, alarm coursing through her body, quickly followed by relief as she noted it was Alyssa. "Tell you what?" She asked confused.

"That you're going to have puppies!"

"What?" Declan asked glancing back and forth between his mate and his sister.

"How did-" Marie began before being cut off.

"What's going on in here?" Connor asked as he rushed into the room. He had felt Marie's panic, and had rushed to make sure she was ok. "Is something wrong, Mar?"

"You asshole! Why didn't you guys tell us?" Alyssa said again.

"Tell you what?" Connor asked, confusion clear on his face.

Turning, Alyssa looked at Declan's still shocked face and said, "I swear, no one pays attention anymore." With a laugh, she turned back to Connor and Marie and replied, "that you're having puppies. And before you ask, just like your mate already did- or tried anyways- I had a vision!"

"What?"

Alyssa threw her hands up in the air as the question as repeated by the other two people in the room. 'Honestly,' she thought, 'people need to pay attention.' Rolling her eyes, she heaved a sigh before repeating herself.

"I had a vision that you," she pointed at Marie and Connor, "are having a baby. Why didn't you tell us?"

"I'm going to be an uncle?" Declan asked, slowly coming out of his shock. 'No wonder Connor had been so worried earlier,' he thought.

"We weren't quite sure just yet," Connor said, looking at Marie. "I mean, I just noticed the scent change this morning."

"Scent change?" Alyssa asked, confused.

"Yes, love," Declan said as he wrapped his arms around her, "scent change. When a woman becomes pregnant, her scent changes to include that of the baby."

"Oh, cool."

"When did you have a vision?" Marie asked.

"Downstairs in the office with- Donna!" Alyssa exclaimed as she turned around and rushed back to the office where her High Priestess was still sitting.

"Everything ok?" Donna asked, a small smile on her face.

"Yea, sorry. That was my first vision, and I couldn't help myself," Alyssa explained while she laughed.

"Don't be sorry, Lys. You should have fun with your powers. If not, then what's the point right? Just remember, 'An harm ye none, do what ye will'," Donna said, reciting the last two lines of the Wiccan Rede. "Ok well, I guess I better get going," she said as she got to her feet. "Call me if you need anything. And quit being a stranger at the meetings!"

Alyssa laughed as she showed the woman out the door. "Ok, I'll try better to make it!"

After she watched to make sure Donna had made it to her car and was heading back down the drive, Alyssa turned and went back inside the house, closing the door on the way. She was just starting to climb the stairs when she felt someone staring at her. Glancing around, she saw Robert and the look on his face sent ice water flowing in her veins.

He looked like he wanted to kill her.
