Alyssa heard the sound of ripping cloth followed by a scream as a binding white hot pain lanced though her neck. As an automatic reflex, she shoved her elbow backwards, connecting with Kevin's unguarded stomach. When he loosened his grip, she tore herself away from him and slapped a hand over the point of pain. She could feel something thick and sticky coat her fingers and pulled them away only to see something red on them. Blood.

Glancing up, she saw a mass of brown fur collide with Kevin as he took a step to reclaim her. The force of the blow sent Kevin flying backwards, and he landed on his back. Alyssa now noticed the bundle of fur was a wolf, and suddenly felt a sense of safety flow over her. While the wolf attacked Kevin viciously, she gathered up the surrounding energy. She sent some towards the wolf as protective energy, but used the majority of it to put up a barrier and heal herself. She could feel as the tear at throat slowly knit itself back together. Snarling brought her attention back to the wolf and the vampire, and concern filled her as she heard the wolf yelp in pain. Feeling a surge of power that her anger brought, she raised her hand and sent a blast of energy at Kevin, causing him to fly backwards.

"Enough!" She yelled, power surging through her words. Keeping Kevin in place with her magic, she looked at the wolf and locked eyes with it. "Are you ok?"

The wolf looked at her confused for a second before nodding. Suddenly, it felt a soothing energy flow over it, and closed its eyes as a gentle wind circled it. When the wind died down, it got back to its feet and noticed its injuries were healed. Bewildered, it glanced at the young woman standing a few feet away.

"Thank you, Verona. You saved my life. I will forever be in your debt," Alyssa smiled. She had recognized her new friend's eyes when she locked eyes with her. She turned her attention back to the still immobilized vampire before her. "Kevin. What am I to do with you? I don't kill. It goes against my religion. But I can't leave you to yourself; you'll just come after me again."

"I'll take care of him, sweetheart."

Startled by Declan's deep voice, Alyssa's focus dropped for a second, and Kevin took that opportunity to lunge at her. He was furious. The stupid bitch hadn't told him she was a magic wielder. A snarl ripped up his throat as flames burst up from the ground, encircling him before he reached Alyssa.

Alyssa looked at the flames in shock. She had never manifested her powers in that way before. Honestly, she didn't know she could, but when Kevin went to grab her again, she threw her hand out, sending all her anger with it, and the flames came to life on their own. She would definitely need to go see Donna sometime soon.

Declan felt as if his jaw was on the ground. He had figured she could work actual magic, but he didn't realize she was so powerful. He could feel his pack members shuffle around nervously. Only Connor, Verona and himself had known she was a witch.

Gathering his wits quickly, he continued up to Alyssa, going slowly so he wouldn't startle her. Finally reaching her, he grabbed her in an embrace and felt her tremble as the stress of the night quickly caught up to her. He could see the flames wavering as her energy left her and sent out a message to his pack.

Picking her up bridal style, he carried Alyssa back to the cars as a scream rent the air. Kevin would not be a menace to anyone else.

As they approached his car, Alyssa caught sight of movement in the trees and put a protective bubble around her and Declan. Declan stopped where he was and looked over where her attention was. He could see someone in a green to shaking, with fear in their eyes, and realized Janice had seen everything that had just happened. Alyssa also recognized the person in the trees and struggled to get down.

"Jan! Are you ok?" She asked as she smiled over to the scared woman. Grabbing the blond, she gave her a big hug, then leaned back and looked over her body, searching for injuries.

"She's a wolf," Janice whispered in shock. "And he's a vampire..." Her eyes slowly focused on Alyssa. "And you're a witch... A real witch... How is that possible? Those things don't exist. How are they existing Alyssa? How!"

Alyssa sighed, and hugged her friend tighter. She made cooing noise and ran her hand down her friend's back in a soothing manner, trying to calm her down. She could feel Janice's sobs racking her body and felt warm splashes on her shoulder.

Concentrating, she pushed the last of her energy into her friend, relaxing her and soon the young lady was asleep on her feet. Connor had come back to check on Alyssa and Declan and caught Janice as she was beginning to fall. Declan was behind Alyssa as she too passed out.

"Is she going to be ok?" Connor asked his best friend, nodding down at Alyssa as they carried the two women to Declan's black SUV.

"I think so. I think she just over exerted herself. She must have used a lot of energies tonight," Declan told the blond giant.

Verona came loping up as they placed the girls in the back seat. Seeing his sister silk in wolf form, he reached into the back and pulled out an over sized shirt. She took it from him and quickly made her way into the trees, only to return back in her human form, covered in the shirt, moments later.

"She did," she said, confirming Declan's assumption. She still couldn't believe it herself and she'd been there the whole time. She glanced at the young woman who had thanked her for saving her life. Alyssa didn't know it, but she's actually saved Verona's life.

Kevin was stronger then she had assumed, and had clawed and bitten her all over her body. One vicious swipe had even caught the tender area of her stomach, and if Alyssa hadn't used her powers, she would have bled out from it. Verona felt like she should be the one doing the thanking.

"I told you not to do anything until we got here! What happened?" Declan growled at her, making her cower slightly under his penetrating glare.

"He bit her. You guys still weren't here, and I was afraid she would be killed," she replied.

"He bit her?" He asked, panic rising in his voice. "He didn't try to turn her did he?"

"No, sir. He was going to kill her. We," she pointed over to Janice, "over heard them fighting. He grabbed her and she fought him off until he tackled her and was able to get behind her. She elbowed him in the gut when he bit her. While she got away, I attacked him. I guess she healed herself while I was fighting him. I don't know, I was preoccupied. He landed a fatal blow, and if she hadn't flung him away from me, he would have killed me. I-" Verona took a gulp of air as the events replayed in her mind. "I think she healed me, too," she whispered.

It had grown quiet as everyone gathered around while Verona told what had happened in the driveway. When they first came upon the scene and watched Alyssa use magic, everyone had become uncomfortable and nervous. If she was powerful enough to take on a vampire by herself, what could she do to their pack? But now, knowing she had saved one of them. Now what?
