Chaos. Complete and utter chaos.

That was the one thought going through Alyssa's head as she climbed the stairs from the gym and saw everyone running around. She had been working out while Declan had been grading papers for his English class, but now she stood in the hallway as pandemonium reigned in her usually tranquil home.

"Women and children to the shelter! Verona! Get a report from the guards, then tell them to get ready! Where's Connor? We need him!"

Alyssa ran to Declan's side as he shouted orders. "What's going on?"

"Rogue attack. They're still at the borders, but they'll be here soon. Listen, Lys, I need you to get the women and children to safety-"

"I'll get them squared away, but don't think for one minute I'm going to hide with them, Declan," she warned, sensing that was going to be his order for her. "I'll set up a barrier around them and then come back to help out."

Before he could argue, she gave him a quick peck on the cheek and ran off to organize the shelter for the ones either too young or too old to fight, and the women who would watch over them. Noticing Marie wasn't there, she quickly located the heavily pregnant woman waddling down the stairs. Making her way to her friend and sister-in-law-to-be, Alyssa screamed in shock as a large muddy brown wolf came crashing through the window in front of Marie. Alyssa flung her arm out, energy flowing from her as she instinctively used it to hurl the rogue wolf down the hall, protecting the still surprised Marie.

"Are you ok?" She asked her, snapping the stunned woman back into the present.

"Y-yea, I think so," Marie assured her as Alyssa wrapped an arm around her protruding stomach and helped her to the hidden passageway leading to the shelter.

Before they could make it to the inner door, however, Alyssa felt Marie stiffen in her arms before releasing a low moan of pain.

"Mar?" Alyssa asked, worried.

"Oh, shit! I think the pup is coming..." Marie said panting, trying to catch her breath.

"Oh, shit. Ok, well let's get you in there with the others. Your mom's in there, she'll know what to do. It'll be ok, Mar," Alyssa said, trying to calm the other woman down.

Once they were in the room, she quickly alerted Debbie about what was going on. Debbie immediately took her daughter and helped her to one of the cots set up in the corner, hoping if she was off her feet and comfortable, they could delay the impending labor. Another moan of pain filled the room, and that hope was quickly dashed.

"Debbie, I've got to go help out. Are you going to be able to handle all this by yourself?" Alyssa asked her mate's mother.

"As long as we can keep those rogues away from here, everything should be fine. We've got a doctor, emergency supplies, water, heat, and clean towels, so the babe should be fine until it's over," Debbie told her, glancing back at Marie before facing Alyssa again. "I'm just worried about them finding us before it comes."

"Don't worry about that, Deb. I'm casting a couple of protective spells once I leave. They won't find y'all," Alyssa told her before giving the short woman a bone crushing hug and leaving the room.

Once the door was shut and locked, Alyssa drew a pentacle in the air before it and chanted, "Evil may leave but shall not enter. As I will it so shall it be," while envisioning a loving white light enveloping the entire room and its occupants.

She also lit a white candle she had taken before she left the room and continued picturing the white light, and cast another spell. "Oh Goddess, protect my loved ones every day, as they sleep and as they play. Help them to always smile bright, and keep them in Your loving light. Protect them from harm and from all they fear. For they are the ones that I hold dear. I thank the Goddess for helping me. I trust in Her aid So mote it be!"
