As she walked into the building, she couldn't help the smile that crawled across her face. She worked at one of the largest schools in her district teaching art to privileged children. She had always been fascinated by anything even remotely artistic, and she loved to share her passion for the arts with others.
"Good morning, Miss Derickson," the principle greeted her as she walked into the office.
"Good morning, Mr. Hodgkin. How was your weekend?" she replied.
"Just fine, thank you. Listen, we've got a new teacher starting today, and I was wondering if you couldn't show him around today?"
"Um, er, sure?"
"Wonderful! I'm sure he'll appreciate it immensely," and with that, he wondered off down the hall as she made her way further into the front office.
"Hey, Janice," she greeted the receptionist. Janice Abbot was a short, yet attractive woman in her mid-twenties. Alyssa couldn't help compare herself to the other woman. Where Janice was short, blond, blue eyed, and straight nosed, she was tall, leggy, brown haired and eyed with a cute little button nose. They were both extremely attractive, just on different ends of the spectrum. Looking at the two of them together, one would never believe they were, in fact, best friends since kindergarten.
"Alyssa! Hey, Hun! How was your weekend? Didja get any?" Janice smirked.
"Janice! No, I did not! I not even on the prowl for your information! Gah. Besides, I wouldn't tell you about it at school! Besides, I'm not here to gossip. Mr. Hodgkin asked me to show the new teacher around. Do you know where i can find him?"
"Oh, well his name is Declan McConnell, six-five, gorgeous piercing green eyes, soft looking, wavy black hair, and the cutest little dimple in his left cheek that just makes you swoon when he grins. Oh and a body to die for. I swear, no one should be able to look that good! He's taking over for Ms. Johnson, so that's Junior Literature."
"Jeez, Jan, it sounds like you're ready to set a date and order the invitations!" Alyssa teased. " Do you know if he's made it in yet? Or where I can find him if he's already here?"
"Please! If I didn't love Johnny so much, I would so make him mine!" Janice giggled. "And yea, he's here already. I showed him to the lounge five minutes ago to wait for his 'teacher buddy'."
"Thanks Hun. I'll see you for lunch, ok?" Alyssa said as she was already heading out the door to head to the lounge.
"Ok, but you're buying!" she heard Janice shout as the door closed behind her.
Chuckling to herself over her crazy best friend, she quickly made her way to the teacher's lounge.
Opening the door, the first thing she noticed was a bright yellow flyer on the bulletin board advertising the need for sponsors for the after school clubs. Ignoring the notice, she turned her head, looking for Mr. McConnell, but there was no one in the lounge. Turning to head back out to the hall so she could search for the man, she ran into something hard, smashing her face.
"Ow!" she cried as she felt two large hands steady her before she fell on her butt.
"Are you o-" the deep voice of the person holding her faded off as she glanced at him and she felt her own eyes growing wide.
"YOU!"
