With barely any students at the Salvatore School and Stella off ditching again, Isaac has literally nothing to do. Gym class practically runs itself with the remaining wolves commandeering control, and he would usually be helping with monster hunting, but that responsibility has been given to Hope and Alaric.

So, he just walks through the school. Alone. Waiting for something interesting to happen.

Luckily for him, a woman bursts through the front door and knocks straight into him. She hits him so hard, in fact, that he stumbles to the ground, not that the woman notices as she stomps down the hallway, only flicking her hair.

"Hey!" He shouts as he stands up and races in front of her. "Where do you think you're going?"

"Beat it," she snaps, her grip on her handbag tightening

"Beat it," she snaps, her grip on her handbag tightening. As Isaac looks down at her, the woman's dark eyes narrow. "I won't say it again. Get out of my way."

"Not gonna happen." He arches a brow and crosses his arms. "You could be a monster or something, and I won't let you hurt the kids in this school."

"If I was a monster or something, shouldn't you be fighting me?"

"I like to give people the benefit of the doubt."

She scoffs and rolls her eyes. "For your information, headmaster, I—"

"Oh, I'm not the headmaster," Isaac says with a frown.

She pauses as her cheeks flush. "Then I apologize, I've heard enough about Saltzman to know I'd like to punch him when I meet him."

"I'm sorry, who are you?" Isaac asks, tilting his head to the side. "Ric didn't tell me anyone was coming. So, uh, are you a monster?"

"If you count these as monstrous." Her eyes flash blue. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to yell at my client."

As she tries to move past him, he grabs her arm and keeps her from walking despite the annoyance on her face. "You're not going anywhere until you tell me who you are and what you're doing."

The woman glares at him before ripping her arm away. "My name is Vanessa Haines. I'm a therapist for one of the students here. She has been ducking my calls for the past week, and I've let it go on long enough. We have a deal about communication, so now I have to remind her forcefully. So, excuse me—"

"Who's your client?" As she pushes through his blockade, Isaac elects to play along and follow her. If she is indeed a monster, at least he'll be there to protect the kid.

"My alpha hired me for her daughter, Stella."

"Wait, Lexi's your alpha too?"

Vanessa pauses to look at him. "Oh, you're Lahey." Her gaze runs down his body as she arches a brow and purses her lips. "You're taller than I imagined."

"Thank you?"

She rolls her eyes and continues up the staircase, but he does not leave her side. "So, Stella hasn't talked to you recently?" He asks.
