I woke up the next morning with a discharge home but in the hallway I saw someone coming down the hallway with alarming speed. Tall, black hair, and violet eyes. Agent Boothe.
"Agent B-"
He cut me off with a look of anger, "Come with me, Hazel."
"No." I pulled my arm away when he grabbed it.
"Your under arrest then." He pulled out a pair of cuffs and snapped them on my wrists.
I felt shock hit me hard and the pain in my ribs became worse, "For what? I didn't do anything."
"Garret, what did she do?!" April came running down the hall with Percy right behind her.
Garret's eyes darkened, "Shes under arrest for assault for one. The second is murder."
Everyones eyes turned on me.
I had been put into a police car and drove to the station where I was once again put into a interrogation room. It was silent and my breathing was pushing against my ribs uncomfortably, moving with a scream. I leaned over and touched them tenderly, sighing. I was being accused of murder. Murder! There was no way! I hadn't left the hospital room. I haven't left anyone's side. The door opened and in came Garret. He looked tired and upset, but when he looked at me he looked purely raged.
"Hello." My voice was shaking from the pain.
He scowled, "Hello, again."
"Garret-"
"Agent Boothe, please." His voice was sharp as a knife and I cringed.
"Agent Boothe, please, I didn't do anything."
He sat a folder down in front of me, "Really? You didn't assault someone and then murder them?"
"No. I mean, yes."
He raised his eyebrow, "Yes or no. Its an easy answer."
"I mean," I took a deep breath, "I fought Angelina but I didn't kill her, I swear."
His eyes widened a little bit and then he fumbled through a folder, "Can you confirm that?"
"Ask April or Nick or even my brother. I promise I didn't kill her."
"Well, the family isn't filing charges for the fight. Your lucky for that." His voice was deflated.
I sighed, "I'm sorry Angelina is dead, but I didn't have any reason to kill her."
"How did the fight start?"
I sighed and went through explaining the fight and what had started it and when I was done Boothe had a gigantic shocked look on his face as if something had struck him. He slowly opened a file and scanned it with careful eyes and then looked up at me and stared. The silence was immense for a minute and then he stood and covered his mouth with a look of pure terror.
"Agent Boothe?" I leaned back and stared a little shaken.
He looked down at me, "Hazel, I need you to do me a big favor. I need you to stay inside from now on. No going out, no matter what. For your safety, I beg you."
"Whats going on? Whats happening?" I stood and felt my ribs yell at me to stop.
"Hazel, I have to talk this over with some people so I can't tell you. Just stay inside or I'm putting you under watch."
I froze and then nodded slowly, "Okay."
"I will call you as soon as possible. I swear to it." He ran from the room and I followed slowly.
I met up with the rest of the group and they took me immediately home. I went straight to bed and curled up into a ball, eyes watering. The way Boothe told me to stay inside made it seem like I was in extreme danger. I didn't want that to be true. I fell asleep with some trouble and images flashed behind my lids.
* * * * *
I woke up the next morning with a headache and Nick was sitting beside me and staring at me.
I flinched away, "Nick!"
His eyes widened, "I'm sorry. Did I scare you?"
"Yes." I smiled and calmed down, slipping my hand into his.
He leaned down and kissed my forehead, "April wanted me to come in and wake you up about some town ball thing, but I found myself watching you."
"The town ball? Thats tomorrow night isn't it?" I sat up and cringed.
"Yes. She wants you to go dress shopping with her."
I hesitated. Boothe had told me to stay inside. Nothing bad could really happen though? Nothing bad... It couldn't hurt anything. I was already hurt.
I smiled, "Alright."
I went to April and she was sitting very close to Percy on the couch and I smiled. She was grinning and talking and laughing. Just like she always did when she was around Percy. Now that she was with him though is seemed like she was ten times as happy. Percy on the other hand looked sad behind his eyes. He hadn't been truely in love with Angelina but losing anyone would hurt.
April beamed, "Lets go."
