I sat up on the couch and stretched. I was still trying to convince Sam to go to that stupid town ball to have some fun but he was too lost in his own thoughts. His dad hadn't been home or to work and that was worrying him.
I walked over and sat down in his lap, touching his face gingerly. He needed to calm down or he would only stress himself out.
"Come on, tonight is that stupid ball." I pouted.
He glanced up at me, "I'm not going."
I glared, "Yes you are. You have been upset and weird."
"My dad hasn't come home!" He raised his voice.
My head screamed and I raised mine back, "If he doesn't come back tomorrow I'll call the cops, okay? Please, let's have some fun. We haven't had any.
His eyes looked up at me and then they softened. I stared into them for a second and noticed something. He was hiding something and wasn't telling. He had this paranoid look in the back of his eyes and for some reason it sent a shiver down my spine.
"Fine. I'll go." He forced a smile.
I stood, "Great! There's only one problem... I dont have a formal dress."
He motioned for me to come with him and we walked into his dad's room. The room was dark and smelled of dust, like someone hadn't been here in a few hours or a day. It was a strange feeling having a house to yourself. It sort of felt like we were just house sitting and waiting for Sam's dad to show back up.
Sam motioned me to come into the closest and I followed, watching him rummage along about ten long clothing covers, looking inside of them until he found the right one. He tossed it to me and I went back into the bedroom and unzipped it, nearly fainting at the sight.
The dress Sam had given me was long and shimmering. It reminded me of the dress from The Little Mermaid. It had the same shimmering tone, same flowing end, and the same design. I picked it up and felt the soft material. It was in good condition, like it had only been worn once.
"It was my mothers." He smirked at himself.
"Its so beautiful. I love it." I let the material fall through my hands.
"How long do we have until the ball?" He smiled.
I looked at my phone, "Three hours."
With that he grabbed me and I dropped my phone in shock. His body pushed up against mine and I felt my heart slamming against my chest. His hands ran along my sides and our lips were moving against each other.
"I love you." He whispered.
I didn't respond and he pushed me up onto the bed, ripping off my clothes. The way he touched me was gentle and with passion. I felt my mouth moving and heard my moans, but a part of me didn't want him to touch me. Something was wrong.
His body moved against mine and I gripped and scratched his arms. His name left my lips several times, but it wasn't mine that left his. It was Hazel's. A burning inside of me wanted to kill her. We kept on.

When we had finished we had one hour to get ready. I raced and slipped on the dress and twisted my hair up elegantly, letting a piece fall to give me that look. I found a pair of silver designed heels in the closet that obviously went to the dress and made my way into the living room.
Sam was dressed up in a black suit with a bow tie. He looked sharp. His hair was even slicked and combed. I had never seen him look so good. His eyes popped when he saw me and he swayed a little.
"You look amazing." He smiled.
"So do you. I feel like I'm going to prom."
He laughed, "Let's hope its not like prom."
We made our way outside, "You didn't like your prom?"
He shrugged, "I had to go so I could take pictures. I was the beat photographer in that school."
"Prom was that bad though." My voice came out sounding skeptical where his sounded strange.
"I got my face pushed into the bowl of spiked punch. Oh, and food shoved into my pants." He glared off into the distance and we got into the car and started to drive.
My eyes widened and I giggled, "Oh my God. That's horrible. If it makes you feel any better, I fell at my prom and flashed everyone."
"Short dress?"
"Oh yeah."
We pulled into the town halls parking lot and I noticed the lights on the town hall. They were shimmering and bright, showing the life that was inside. It looked like fun.
