I packed my clothes into my suticase with care. My excitement levels were raising with each piece of clothing I packed. I was going to stay with my best friend and I couldn't think of a better way to spend my summer.
"Hazel, Hun, are you almost done? We have to leave by 10:30 if we are going to make it in time!" Mom's sweet voice sounded from the hallway.
I smiled, "Almost done, Mom!"
I pulled my black hair into a the short, curly ponytail that it was and zipped my stuffed bag.
I met my mom in the hallway and smiled. She was dressed in a pale blue sundress and she had a piece of curly black hair tucked behind her hair.
Her sweet voice sounded out, "Ready, sweetie?"
I smiled, "I've been ready!"
I got my stuff into her little silver car and hopped in the passenger side seat, nearly bouncing.
Mom laughed, "Hun, calm down. We still have a two hour drive."
I groaned, "I wish I could bend time."
She made a face as she began to drive, "You are your father's daughter."
I pretended to be offended, "Ayeee."
She smiled at me and since we had two more hours, I decided to just close my eyes and take a nap.
* * * * *
I woke up to someone shaking me.
I groaned, "Mom, stop...."
It was a different sing-song voice, "Hazellll."
I snapped my eyes open and saw April, my best friend.
I squealed and jumped out, hugging her, "APRIL! Oh my gee!"
"You look great!" She laughed and hugged me.
I grinned, "So do you!"
I looked her up and down in joy. Last time I had seen her, her hair was chopped to her shoulders, braces lined her teeth, and pimples covered her face. Now she looked great! Her golden hair hung down her back straightly, green eyes were lined with thin golden lashes. Her nose had grown slightly longer, thin lips smiled revealing straight white teeth, and her once flat stomach held a small amount of chub. Overall, she was far more pretty than she was when she was younger.
"You cut your hair!" Her fingers toiled with my now short, curly black hair that was hanging to my shoulders.
"I was getting tired of the weight." I shrugged, carrying my bag into the house.
Two people sat waiting for me. One was Carol Grace, April's mom, and my ex, Nicholas Davidson. I stopped and stared at him. Due to my recent move, I called it off with him, but I couldn't help noticing the slight changes in him. His once long hair was now chopped and spiked in the front, still honey brown. His nose was slightly crooked, probably from a fight. His lankines was replaced by muscles and I couldn't help staring at them. Instead of him being 5'11", he was now a whopping 6'2".
"Nick." His name escaped my mouth.
He stood smiling, "Geez, we've been waiting for you!"
He swung me into a hug, my bags dropping. He was still so warm. My stomach fluttered a little.
"You look wonderful. Only, you cut your hair." There was a disappointment in his voice.
I smirked, "It was getting too long."
"Aw, thats too bad. You will always be beautiful though."
I blushed and Mom walked in.
She beamed a smile, "Nicholas!"
He smiled, "Hello, Mrs. Johnson!"
"How are you, hun? How is your mother?" Mom set my makeup bag down on the arm of the brown leather couch.
"Oh, she is great! She was making spahetti when I left."
Mom popped her hip to the side, "Maybe I'll pay her a visit!" She winked.
Mrs. Grace stood, "Well, I'm happy your here, Hazel!"
That set off a conversation between our moms and we rolled our eyes and headed outside.
