Layla's POV
"And I can surely see you melting that ice around his heart."
Leo's words from a few hours ago replayed in my mind like some broadcast as I laid down on my bed.
I still can't quite grasp that they've never seen Sinn smile before. Like never, not even the slightest tug on his lips.
I mean, I've heard, not only me, everyone who works in the underworld has heard, that The Three Devils deal with the most gruesome of the works of the mafia, and to think about that, it's fair enough to say why Sinn would never smile.
Working under the mafia would be so depressing, a chain of murdering people, torturing them, and what not keeps going. My father wasn't as important as The Three Devils, but even then, he did some things which I'd rather he never did.
We've only heard from people what The Three Devil deals with, but only they know what actually goes around.
-----------"Going off to training?" Mattheo called out, as I walked over to the room where Sinn trains me.
"Yeah, what's up?" I asked him lazily, cause I still feel sleepy. I don't know how long I stayed up thinking about random stuff last night and now I have to pay the consequences.
"You're not fully awake. You sure you'll be fine?" Mattheo asked me, looking at my half-asleep state. I nodded my head sleepily at him and gave him a slight smile.
"I'll be fine. I know, I could pull off all-nighters." I told him and he gazed at me unsure. "Yeah sure." I gave him a thumbs up followed by a tight smile, as I made my way towards the training room.
"Ah, please finish off this training quickly, I wanna go sleep," I mumbled to myself, as I put my hands in my black hoodie. My hood was over my head, and I entered the room to find the smoke in the air.
I squinted my eyes to focus on the figure in the far corner who was gazing out the window. And as if they felt my presence, he turned around and his stone-cold eyes, now locked with mine.
All the sleep I had in my eyes vanished for a second as my eyes met his. I couldn't help but feel a slight shudder down my spine from the way he looked me up and down.
I shook my head and made my way inside. But his gaze never left me and traveled wherever I went. "Can you please keep today's session short? I'm really tired and can't even-" I was cut off by him throwing away his cigarette, as he slowly walked towards me.
"You've still got to explain your actions from yesterday." He told sharply, gazing up at me from the floor as he brushed his fingers together, where he previously held his cigarette.
"Um, what exactly..?" I asked, raising one of my brows, my hands still rested inside my hoodie's pocket.
He glanced at me carefully, like he's thinking about something. His eyebrows were slightly furrowed and I took this opportunity to check him out. As usual, he had one of his black suits which covered his neck. It makes me wonder why does he always wears high necks which cover his neck?
He had his usual accessories, which consisted of his silver chain and silver earnings. And to finish off his look, he had one of his black oversized coats hung over his shoulders. His style was as usual and looked rich.
I noticed him walk over to me, his black shiny boots hit the floor and I heard their sound. He stopped when he was right in front of me, more like towering over me from our height difference which made me drag my neck to look up at him.
"The little stunt you pulled yesterday when I told you to try to get out of my hold." He told me in a monotonous tone. And when he finished, I recalled it, which I had seemed to forget the cause being my sleepy state.
"Oh that," I mumbled, furrowing my brows together as I gulped, wetting my lips in the process cause I didn't expect him to ask an explanation for it.
"Look, you never told me 'how', but just to get out of your hold right? So I used whatever way I could think of at that moment." I told him truthfully and he just stared at me blankly.
"So you're telling me, your explanation for doing that was just that I never told you how? He asked me and I nodded my head shrugging, " Exactly."
"You'll use that way, even against your opponent when we're on our missions?" He asked me, still, his tone remained the same; blank.
I knitted my brows together, biting the skin inside my cheeks, "If it means I'll get to use that as a defense against them or whatever, I'll do." I told him.
His eyes almost immediately turned stone-cold cause now, he was glaring at me. "Are you fucking stupid?" He uttered and I stared at him, kind of startled by the sudden change in his demeanor.
His jaw ticked, as he continued giving me a hard stare but I didn't dare say anything back cause I was still confused by his sudden outburst?
"Never even mistakenly try doing shit like that when you're under missions." He more like ordered me and I couldn't help now, but to open my mouth. "Why?"
He glared at me, his jaw clenched as his silver eyes shot daggers at me that I might just freeze from their stares.
"Cause they'll not let go of you, they'll make you get on your knees."
