Sinn's POV
I wanted her to stay in the car but like always she made her way and followed us out.
I wouldn't let her but she showed me the gun I gave her which made me let her join us.
And now she's pointing the same gun at someone.
I noticed from behind her, that her eyes were blazing with resentment. It was like she was gazing at someone she despises a lot.
Her grip tightened and her mouth opened to mutter a word that joined all the dots for me.
"Seth."
The guy smirked at her and I wanted to roll my eyes.
"Lay," Seth started and his eyes glinted with amusement. "It's you."
"Don't fucking call me by that name ever again, it's unpleasant to my ears." She snapped back and Seth laughed dryly.
I scanned the area around us and everyone had their gazes focused on these two and the gun she was aiming at him.
"Now that's not how you greet your boyfriend-" Before he could say anymore she cut him off by stepping forward and aiming the gun at his forehead.
"Boyfriend?" She scoffed and glared at him. "Ex-boyfriend, it's the same thing," Seth said back and she rolled her eyes.
He then stared at the gun which was at him and held it, "I think you need to lower this."
Before she could say something I stepped forward beside her, "And I think you need to get your hand away."
His eyes met mine, and I saw a flicker of fear in them before it vanished away.
I didn't remove my gaze from him which made him look away. "What must you want?" I asked wiping the blood on my sword on his shirt making him shiver slightly.
"I didn't know, you'd be accompanying them," Seth replied, looking at our people and I pulled the sword back to my side.
"Should've done your homework properly. But I'm not surprised, that's what I'd expect from Charlie's gang."
I noticed her burning gaze locked on me and I forced everything in me to not look at her. Cause I know if I did I'll see nothing but her.
"It's time that you move along and take my message to your boss," I focused my eyes on him as he waited for my next words, "The mafia always finds a way."
I turned my back on him and walked away back to the van while the rest followed me. Including her after she gave one last look at him.
The driver sped off when we were seated in the car and this time I made her sit next to me and send James, one of my informants to go sit with Francis at the back.
She was glaring at her front but turned to me as my words reached her.
Layla's POV
"It would've been better if you did as I said and stayed in the car. Would've saved you from the distaste of encountering an ex."
Sinn's words made me stop imagining ways of stabbing Seth with my dagger and look at him instead.
He sat on his seat nonchalantly as he gazed in front of him but then turned his head slightly to look at me. His ice-cold eyes held the same amusement they always did whenever he said something to me.
I clenched my jaw knowing he was right and I did kind of regret getting out of the car. I looked away without answering and folded my arms leaning back on my seat.
But he continued staring at me, "I'm amazed," he spoke once again and I turned my head to face him.
"What?" He stared into my eyes, tilting his head as his gaze held the same amusement in them.
"This is the first time you're not talking back to whatever I say to you. It's just fascinating to me." His tone was laced with a bit of humor which made me forget about the bitter feeling after meeting with Seth.
"Consider yourself lucky then, and go thank my 'ex'" I retorted emphasizing my ex and his mouth formed a slight smirk which would be almost impossible to detect but cause I have already memorized every action on his face I could make it out.
"I will." He stated and I looked at him with curiosity.
This man just made me forget about the bitterness of encountering Seth again. When all those painful memories resurfaced, his mere slight humourful words made me forget about them and only have him in my thoughts once again.
Before any of us could utter another word, his phone ringed and he picked it up going back to his stoic expression as he only said hmm in response to let the other person know that he was listening.
I turned to look out my window cause Sinn went back to staring at the seat in front of him and I disappeared into my thoughts when a thought occurred to me.
I've only heard Sinn talk more than 5 words to me and no one else. Just like now, it's so many words from someone like him.
But it's probably cause I always ask him questions and challenge him which makes him utter a few more words at me out of frustration. Right?
Cause Sinn Phoenix is my boss and bosses are off limits when it comes to any kind of feelings that I'm starting to feel. And I need to stop before it's too late.
An; I know it's been days and I'm sorry. It's a short chapter but something is better than nothing ;)
