Layla's POV
I have always been a hopeless romantic.
I hate to admit it, but I am one.
I have always loved the vibe a ball had. To all the times I've been there, even though I told myself I hated it, I loved going to balls.
People dressed up and dancing with their loved ones- or soon-to-be loved ones always made me intrigued and feel wholesome.
But I always wanted to be in a ball where there was just me with the person I wanted to share everything with, even my heart. Wearing a gown and waltzing around the empty ballroom with a person I adore with my whole being. It's lame but a person like me could only keep fantasies like these to themselves.
I know I can't find a person like that, not when I have so much in my life to do but a person could only fantasize about such a thing, especially someone like me who would never find someone like that.
Not when I'm feeling things for somebody I definitely should not. Somebody who's supposed to be my boss, someone I should only be professional with and not sexual.
I don't know if all this time of not being able to have sex with someone had a toll on me and is making me feel horny for Sinn Phoenix cause that man is straight up something else. Who wouldn't feel attracted to him?
I've never seen more a beautiful yet sexy being in my whole 18 years of living and I don't think I will.
Another gunshot echoed in the room and I got out of my thoughts as Sinn spoke,
"Remember my order," he told me and I nodded cause I have memorized them.
Stay alive.
He stared at me one last time before he removed his hand from the side of my face and pulled away his forehead from mine, backing away.
The ballroom was a fucking chaos.
People ran around wherever they could to not get harmed in any way.
I looked over at where the statue was and Sinn nodded at me.
We sprinted towards the stairs leading to where it sat peacefully, staring at the disaster being created over it as it enjoyed looking down from above.
Just as we were about to take the stairs Beth rushed towards us panicking. "Oh thank god you two are safe! I don't know how I would be able to answer The Vinci and Vanetti if something happened to you two!" She exclaimed taking my hand and I fought the urge to yank her away.
"You two better take shelter from these gunshots, it's at the basement we're all heading down there." She told us and we listened to her blabbering.
She stopped when she noticed we were not saying anything or were the least 'scared' by the commotion being caused.
"Rosie and Victor, what's the matter your scaring me," she questioned, her voice filled with worry and I stared into her eyes as my expression got serious.
"It's time that you call me Layla." I spat at her harshly and her face seemed as if she saw a ghost. She stood there motionless staring at me and then at him as his deep voice came out,
"Sinn." He scanned around the ballroom not looking at her, his face had a scowl and his tone was dead cold.
"Y-you, what are you saying, your not Rosie and Victor?" She asked when she finally got to her senses and her brain started functioning sentences.
I dug my eyes at her, "What else do you think?" I muttered and she gasped in disbelief, realizing everything.
"How... how could you enter the Astor mansion, we have tight security! No one can enter and betray us like this-"
"The mafia always finds a way," Sinn said, his voice sounding dangerous that it would send chills down your spine.
Beth's eyes widened even more now that she knew the truth that we were sent here from the mafia, and that basically, they're all fucked.
"That statue, they sent you to get it! I won't let you have it!" She screamed and I felt irritated by her high-pitched voice as I covered one of my ears.
"It's the mafia's in the first place, you stole it from them," I told her and she glared at me.
"So what if we stole it from them? It's ours now and will be! You can't take it from us!" Beth was turning into a mad woman as she kept on shouting every word she said.
"I won't let you have it!"
She lunged towards me and before she could even touch one of my hair Sinn grabbed hold of her hand stopping her. His other hand pulled out his gun from his side and aimed it at her head.
"Touch her and I'll pull the trigger." He hissed and Beth grew cold as she started trembling. Sinn let go of her hand and she held it up. He walked towards her and she walked back so that she was away from the stairs leading up to the statue.
The Astors guards were fighting with the men from our side and the guests for the ball stood in the corner hiding from the gunshot and fighting.
"Beth!" Ross Astor called his wife out and she teared up seeing him. Adrian and Veronica were also standing beside him.
Ross looked over at the gun and then at Sinn who was holding it, "Victor, what are you doing put it down!" He ordered him and Sinn didn't look away from Beth as he muttered.
"It's Sinn, don't make me repeat."
Ross's, Adrian's, and even Veronica's eyes widened hearing Sinn's words.
"Sinn? Sinn Phoenix from The Three Devils?! What the fuck are you doing here where's Victor?" Ross demanded him to answer and Sinn rolled his eyes as he gripped the gun.
"You don't want me to pull the trigger and your wife to die by asking me these fucking questions do you?' Sinn spat and Ross backed away from his threats and Adrian stared at him.
"I knew something was suspicious when he almost broke my hand when I greeted Rosie if that is even her real name!" He blabbered and I walked to where Sinn was,
"It's Layla," Adrian looked at me and I crossed my arms over my chest.
Veronica looked even more traumatized by the mess and I felt bad for her to have to experience this.
"Layla," his deep voice called out my name and I felt my heart jump in my chest cause he rarely calls me by my real name.
I scooted closer to him so I could hear him, "Get the statue I'll take care of them." I looked at him and he turned his head to meet my gaze briefly before I nodded.
"Roger,"
I turned around and climbed up the stairs when I finally reached the beast staring at me. "I finally get to take you where you belong." I held it up and it was much heavier than its size but I managed to carry it anyways.
I descended the stairs and walked towards Sinn before someone tried to attack me and steal the statue from my grip.
But thanks to the hour-long practices I had with Sinn, and what I had learned since I was a child through my father, I was able to detect him early enough to take out my dagger, where I had it strapped to my thigh, through the slit in my dress and slashed the guy's face distracting him as he held his face and screamed in pain. I kicked his leg making him fall over.
He won't be able to attack me anymore.
I gripped my dagger in my hand and looked towards Sinn. He stared at me from the corner of his eyes. I smiled giving him a thumbs up and pressed the statue close to me, walking over to stand beside him.
