The next morning I woke up with a headache a missed call, and a series of text messages from Blake. I guess he finally got my photo since his texts went like this:
Holy Shit Soph.
I didn't open this until now. The guys are giving me hell about it.
Maybe you should wear white robes more often. Or maybe just what's under that white robe ;)
Good morning beautiful. I'm assuming you're still asleep considering you had a late night last night. Just landed in NOLA. Call you later. The texts made me smile as I stretched out in my bed and realized it was ten after two. I turned on the TV and caught the tail end of Shahs of Sunset before deciding to get in the shower. Today I decided to go get my nails done and have dinner with Amber and then tomorrow I had to go over to my mother's. Which meant everything needed to be smoothed over before that. I was going over there to finalize everything for my graduation party. She was calling it "the event of the year." My mother always loved a good excuse to throw a party. An event. There was a seating chart, a theme, a band, servers, a specific menu that went with the theme, a cake. There was a fucking cake. It was like a wedding. It was ridiculous. She was ridiculous. But no matter what we had to speak to each other. Which meant I needed to apologize even though I'm not in the wrong. My mother never apologizes. After getting a shower I decided to put on a pair of jeans, a black tank top, and brown sandals. I didn't even bother messing with my hair. I just brushed it and put it in a messy lopsided bun on top of my head. Today was also a makeup free day. I wasn't doing anything special. I was going to grab a smoothie and some aspirin and then off to get my nails done. Surprisingly the drive thru for Smoothie Shack wasn't as ridiculous as I imagined and neither was the nail salon. I went with all bright pink topped with a gold glitter for my nails and toes. It was a nice spring color and went well with my skin. As I was sitting getting my toes done Amber called me.
"Hello?" I said into the phone.
"Hello mamacita. Are we still on for dinner tonight?" She chirped.
"Yeah sure. What time were you thinking?" I asked looking at a clock on the wall in front of me.
"Well, I was thinking we could grab dinner around 7:00? And then go over to your place or my place to watch the game," she suggested.
"Ok, yeah sounds good! Well we could go over to my place I don't mind. Either one really."
"Ok, well text me your address and I'll just come over so we just have to take one car."
"Ok, sounds good. I'll see you in a bit," I said hanging up the phone.
After getting home from the nail salon I decided to give Blake a call.
"Hello," he said trying to catch a breath.
"Hey, you ok?" I asked concerned.
"Yeah, yeah, we were racing in the halls. I won," he said laughing.
"Boys will be boys I see."
"Yeah, you gonna watch the game tonight?" He asked me.
"Actually yes. Amber and I are going to get dinner and then come back to my place, change into pjs and watch the game."
"No white robe?" He asked playfully. His words caused my feet to scrunch and my eyes to squint as if he were right in front of me.
"You liked it?"
"Liked it? I think that's an understatement. I'm a legs guy,"
"Mhmm, well maybe if you win tonight I'll send over something else," I said laughing in my head. I have never talked about seducing someone over the phone. It's strange but so fun. Teasing. I don't think Blake could stand it.
"I'll make sure of it then. Actually, I think we have this game in the bag. I know we do. So maybe you could send those over now? You know I think I need a little pre game inspiration."
"You know maybe if I would've had a few drinks before you called I would've been a little more apt in doing so. But I think that you'll have to wait."
"Oh yeah? Well when do I get to see that little white robe number again? I think I'm having withdraws."
"Maybe when you come home..." I said teasing.
"I would absolutely love that," he said emphasizing "love."
"I'm sure you would." I said giggling. He always made me laugh which I loved about him. I loved the fact that he made me laugh and smile and how he told me that I was beautiful. He was a good guy. Blake was a real good guy.
"Well, I don't want to hold you up. I'm sure you and Amber are getting ready to go."
"We are, we are. But I'll call you after the game."
"Alright. Don't cause too much trouble," he said sarcastically.
"No promises made, BG. No promises made."
"Haha, nothing I wouldn't approve of."
"Ok. I'll try. Bye," I said waiting for his final response.
"By Soph," he said into the phone softly.
After dinner, Amber and I game back to my place to watch the game as planned. The Clippers beat the Pelicans 104-89. Blake scored 28 points that night. After the game Amber and I said our goodbyes and I headed upstairs to my room changing into my pajamas and lounging on the love seat in the corner of my room. I was hoping Blake would call. I didn't want to call him first. Should I call him first. No. I will wait. I will wait as long as it takes. And then it was as if God himself heard me. My phone started to ring. Blake. Perfect. I quickly cleaners my throat a little and swallowed a few times before picking up the phone.
"Hello," I said softly trying to sound some way sexy even though I just ended up sounding stupid.
"Did I wake you up?" He asked nervously.
"No, no, not at all," I said raising my voice a little losing the sexiness.
"Oh ok good. Did you guys watch the game?"
"Yes, and may I applaud you. 28 points, very nice sir," I said sarcastically.
"Why thank you. Do I get any kind of reward for that?" He asked eagerly.
"Hmm, possibly. Maybe we can just save that reward for when you get home," I said teasing.
"You know that's in like six days?" He said desperately into the phone sighing.
"Yes, well this will be a true test of your patience."
"Patience my ass," he said quickly.
"Oh, really?" I asked.
"Really really.
"Mmmmm, well I need to go since I have to go meet with my mother at the crack ass of dawn about the final details of my party."
"Party? What party?" He asked curiously.
"My graduation party. It's going to be the size of a wedding. There is cake. There is a five tier cake. And there is a seating chart. And a bar. Thank god there is an open bar because lord knows I'm going to need a lot of alcohol to get through the night with that woman," I said ranting.
"I see. A cake, a seating chart, a bar? That's like a wedding," he said agreeing as I slumped back into the cushion of the love seat.
"Yeah. It's ridiculous. She's ridiculous," I said snapping.
"Am I invited?" Shit. I should've known this was coming. Of course I wanted to invite him. But he would then have to meet my parents and my grandmother. All of those cousins and those pretentious bitches my mother is friends with its just not the greatest idea. It's a terrible idea. Then again he could be there to keep me company. I would be sitting at the bar alone. But, I could be sitting at the bar with him.
"Yes, of course," I said assuring him.
"I'm going to be invited? To your party. Where your parents and friends and other family members will be?" He asked confusingly.
"Yes. I mean it doesn't mean you have to come. I would like you to."
"I would like to. Trust me I would. But I don't know if your mom would really want my company."
"Well I'm going over there tomorrow and I'm going to smooth things over with her then. It's not that she doesn't like you. I mean even though she doesn't know you before the magazine she was nearly speechless when she saw you. And then she and my dad just ranted and raved about you. So don't worry I'll fix it."
"So I'm going to your party? After everything is ok with your mom?"
"Yes. You're going to my party and you're going to be my date. We're going to eat all the food and the cake and drink until we can drink no more."
"I'm your date? I like the sound of this," he said laughing in the background.
"Me too," I said softly into the phone.
"So what's the attire for this party? Little white robes only?" He asked as if I could hear him grinning through the phone.
"Sadly no, mom isn't fan of those. And it's casual chic. I mean I'm wearing a dress and heels. But you could wear pants and a nice button up. A suit isn't necessary."
"Ok, well I guess I need to be on the hunt for a gift for the graduating girl."
"You don't need to get me a gift."
"Well as I guest I believe I do."
"But you're going to be my date, not really a guest," I said correcting him.
"Well then, if I'm your date than I most definitely need to get you something special."
"Special?" I asked him.
"Special. Now I think you need to get some rest. Seems like you have a big day Ahead of you pretty girl. I'll call you tomorrow?" He asked.
"Ok. Tomorrow," I said to him. After both of us told each other goodnight I sat in the corner of my room thinking about how much I loved it when he called me pretty girl. I thought about how I've never met a man who had made me feel so wanted.Sorry for the short chapter but more drama is coming soon with the party approaching! Remember to vote and comment! Thanks for over 2k reads! So exciting!
