Reunited (Part Two)

"Aw, Soph. I've never seen you this happy before!" Rae said smiling at me.
"I don't think I've ever been happier," I said leaning in for a kiss from Blake. I could feel his smile on my lips and heat rise in my cheeks.
"Here, why don't we go sit in here," Blake said leading us into the living room. Rae and I took a seat on the couch while Blake resided in the large recliner in the corner.
"So tell me everything," Rae said putting her hands in her lap.
"Everything huh? Hm...I just don't know where to begin."
"How about this new job of yours? You finished school and found this awesome job so quick."
"I know. I was really lucky. You know my dad knows some people who work for the Lakers so he just heard them talking about the positions that needed to be filled and one of them was for physical therapy so I got the interview and got the job."
"That's so awesome. I know you worked your ass off for a long time. And I'm sorry I couldn't be at your graduation!"
"It's all good. You're here now and that's all that matters,"I said smiling at Rae.
"Oh my god, come here," Rae said opening her arms again for another hug. Even though it had been so long I still hadn't forgotten what her hugs felt like.
"So how does this one feel about you working for the enemy?" Rae said winking causing me to laugh.
"Hey, I said it could be worse. She could be working for a team that's actually decent," Blake said shrugging.
"Very true, very true. So what else is new. How's aunt Kim and Uncle Jay?"
"They're good. My dad is working as always. And Kim, well you know," I said rolling my eyes. Rae knew what Kim was like. She knew the kind of shady shit that she always did. She's seen it first hand.
"Yeah, I figured. But it's whatever. She'll eventually come around. And if she doesn't, it's ultimately her loss," Rae said as she sunk into the couch cushion and crossed her legs.
"That's what I have to keep telling myself," I said as Blake grabbed my hand and ran his thumb over my knuckles.
"Exactly. I'm glad you realize that," Rae said.
"Yeah, I've sort of had to. But enough about me! You? You're back in LA!"
"Yes, we're back. Scott and the kids are still up in DC and they'll come down in about a week. I'm just trying to get everything settled you know. We wanted to get back down here before the holidays and not too far into the school year.I just don't want Owen to come in half way through the year," Rae said.
"Yes, I totally agree. Oh my goodness I can't wait to see the kids. Owen is in what...first grade?" I asked.
"Yes my Owen is in first! Can you believe it?"
"No, oh my god, no! I remember coming to the hospital and holding him for the first time," I said thinking back. It's crazy to think that I'll be laying in a hospital bed holding a baby of my own.
"I know. And Isla just turned one. It's just all going so fast," Rae said.
"I know, I know. I'm so glad you're here though. You've had no idea how much I've missed you. And the kids. I'm glad they'll be closer to me. To us," I said looking at Blake. He gave me a small smile before squeezing my hand a little.
I've always wanted my kids to grow up with Rae's. We grew up together and have been so close and I want our kids to have the same thing.
"Well, I was thinking we'd go do some shopping and then have lunch?" I said.
"Yes! You know it took all of my willpower not to go to The Grove on my way here," Rae said laughing.
"Hahah, oh trust me, I know you. How do you think I feel coming home?!"
"Terrible. Absolutely terrible," She said jokingly.
"It really is, but I want to go! So let's get out of here. We can take my car and leave yours here," I said getting up and Rae following me.
"Alright you girls have fun. Don't cause too much trouble," Blake said winking.
"Never," I said putting my hand on his chest as he leaned down to give me a kiss.
"I'm just gonna run to my car and get my wallet," Rae said. "It was so nice to finally meet you Blake. I know you're treating my little sister like a queen," she said smiling.
"The only way she should be treated. But yes it was nice to meet you too. I'm sure I'll be seeing more of you," Blake said.
"Absolutely, now come here. In this family we do hugs even if we just met," Rae said opening her arms as Blake gave her a hug.
"We will have to work on him," I whispered to Rae as she headed out the door.

After hearing the door shut there was a moment of silence between Blake and I.
"Are you gonna tell her?" Blake asked.
"I want to. I mean my mom and dad already know and your parents are gonna know soon enough."
"I'm not saying you shouldn't tell her."
"I know, it's just. I was one of the first people that she told when she was pregnant with Owen and Isla. I just feel like it's right and I want to tell her," I said sighing.
"Then tell her Soph. Tell her," Blake said.
"Ok."
"Now, go do some damage at J. Crew, Nordstrom, and Madewell, and then maybe we can meet for dinner later?" Blake said bringing me into his arms.
"You're telling me to break the bank? Wow. What's gotten into you?" I asked playfully.
"Just wanna see my baby mama happy," Blake said putting his hands on my belly.
"Mmmm well she'll be real happy in about three hours. I'll see you later," I said giving Blake a quick peck before heading out the door.
