I was a mess the next morning. I woke up with a nervous stomach and bags the size of Chanel purses under my eyes. My interview was at noon and it was now nine forty five. After I showered and did my makeup I went to my closet to get my most professional outfit. It was a black pencil skirt with a small slit in the back, a crisp white button up that I tucked in, and nude pumps. I put my hair in a high ponytail and wore pearl earrings. Business casual can be cute if you try. I decided to leave my house around 11:15 so I knew I wouldn't be late. On the drive downtown, I got a text from Blake that said, Kick ass baby! I know you'll do great. See you tonight. He was so sweet. Even though I was nervous, I felt like I could do this. As I pulled into a parking spot and started walking toward the door my nerves were sort of being eased. I was just here last night. As I walked through the door I was greeted by a woman at a receptionist desk.
"Hello, how can I help you?" She asked politely.
"Hi, I have an interview today. My name is Sophia Jackson," I said as she typed something into the computer.
"Yes, here you are. Julie will see you in a little bit. But, could you go ahead and start filling out some of this paperwork?" She asked handing me a purple and gold clipboard.
"Absolutely," I said sitting down. After I was done with the preliminary paperwork I was called into an office moments later.
"Hello Sophia, I'm Julie and I'm the Director of Physical Therapy," she said holding out her hand.
"Nice to meet you," I said shaking her hand.
"Please sit. So, I see that you've just graduated from UCLA and you're ready to start working huh?"
"Yes, ma'am. I feel like I need to sort of just jump right in and waste no time," I said straightening out my skirt.
"I like your attitude. So, what I'm looking for is obviously another physical therapist to help with stretching, rehabbing, and other treatments. Right now, it's only myself that's doing this and one person just isn't enough," she said as I nodded. "I read your recommendations and they were incredible. You interned at a clinic for a few months too I see," she said flipping through my resume.
"Yes, I interned at a clinic that was just outside of Santa Monica. Great experience."
"Great. Now, I know you've never worked with athletes before but I'm sure you know that we play a key role since their body is their most valuable tool. But, it's honestly like working with any other patient," she said smiling. "So, I would like to offer you the position here. Your starting salary would be around $115,000. I'd also like you to come back next week so you can kind of get a real sense of what you'll be doing and then we can discuss a contract, your schedule, and any other questions you may have."
"That's it? I got it?!" I asked excitedly.
"If you want it you got it. It's a lot. Think about it for a couple of days first. But from what I see you're good Sophia." She said nodding her head.
"Ok, I will. I'll call you by the end of the week," I said standing up.
"Sounds perfect. We hope to have you part of the team," she said walking me out.
"I hope so too, thank you so much. " I said shyly.
"Absolutely. Nice meeting you Sophia." As I walked out to my car I nearly squealed with excitement. Holy shit. I just got a job with a six figure pay check! I got in my car and called Blake to ask him what he wants for dinner. He picked up on the second ring as usual.
"Hey baby, how'd it go?" he said into the phone.
"Hey, it went great! I got it! I'm gonna tell you all about it later ok," I said pulling into the grocery store parking lot.
"That's great! I can't wait to hear about it. When are you coming over?"
"I'm going to the grocery store now to pick up some stuff to cook tonight. And then I'm gonna run home and grab some clothes and stuff. What do you want me to make?" I asked him.
"Hmmm I don't know. Pasta? I could really go for some pasta and some good red wine."
"That sounds really good actually. What about dessert? I'm thinking a cobbler. Berry cobbler with vanilla ice cream?"
"My mouth is already watering. So get over here and get cooking!"
"Alright, well let me go then."
"See you in a little while," Blake said hanging up the phone. After getting all of the stuff I needed for dinner I swung by my place to pack a little bag for tonight with all my necessities. Pajamas, underwear, some other shoes cause the ones on my feet were killing me, my glasses, phone charger, and something to wear tomorrow. I threw all of it in a bag and jumped back in my car to head over to Blake's. When I pulled into his driveway I honked the horn so he could come help me with all of the groceries. A moment later as I was gathering a couple bags on my hands I felt his large hands around my waist.
"Oh my gosh! You scared me!" I said.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean too," he said giving me a kiss on the cheek. "Damn, you make business casual look so good," he said taking a step back and looking at me causing me to roll my eyes.
"Are you just gonna stand there and look at me or are you gonna help me?!" I said to him.
"Hey, I'm here. I'm here," he said surrendering his hands and grabbing a few bags. After we got inside and out all of the groceries away we both say on the couch and watched TV. Blake had his feet on the coffee table while I kicked off my shoes and draped my legs over his with my head at the other end of the couch.
"I wanna hear all about your job interview," Blake said turning the volume down.
"Well, the place just needed another physical therapist to help with rehabbing and assisting some guys. It pays really well. Like really well. And I would get to travel a little bit so that's another perk," I said hoping he wouldn't ask any more questions.
"That's awesome Soph. So are you gonna take it?"
"I want to. I really do. I think that it's a really good opportunity and I'm really ready to put all my hard work to use."
"And I think you absolutely should. What's holding you back?" He asked with concern.
"It's just I really like you," I said squinting.
"Yeah, I really like you too and I'm glad we're doing this. What does that have to do with--"
"It's the Lakers," in blurted.
"What about the Lakers?"
"The job. I got a job offer to work with the Lakers. I don't want it to be awkward," I said sighing.
"With the Lakers that's huge. Did you really think I'd be upset if you took the job?"
"Yes?" I said questioning. "I mean it only makes sense. You are rivalries."
"Well there are 29 other teams you could've worked for. I mean the Clippers would be the best option but I'm going to support you in your decisions," he said grabbing my hand and rubbing his thumb over the top of it.
"Ok. So I should do it?"
"You should do what you think you should do. It sounds like a great offer so why not go for it? It's here in LA, you're doing what you've wanted to do, and I can have you mess with Kobe for me," he said smiling.
"Ok. I'm gonna do it." After Blake and I laid on the couch for awhile I got up to change so I could make dinner. I went upstairs where he put my bag and changed into running shorts and his OU shirt. I came downstairs and went straight into the kitchen to get working on the pasta sauce and cobbler for later. After everything was ready Blake and I sat at the bar to eat.
"Everything is great Soph. And I'm smelling whatever that's in the oven," he said taking a bite.
"I'm glad I can cook for my boy," I said smiling at him.
"You know you can anytime," he said pulling my chair toward his.
"I know. And I will more often. Now come here you have a little sauce on your face," I said putting my hands around his neck.
"Well, are you gonna get it?" He asked. And instead of responding I kissed him hard making sure I got the little speck of sauce off the corner of his mouth.
"There, now it's gone," I said giving him a cheeky smile.
"You're something else Miss Jackson," he said smiling at me.
"Ugh don't call me that. It makes me feel old," I whined.
"Old? I'm the old one here."
"You're in your prime! Besides you don't look a day over 24," I said winking.

After eating dessert and cleaning up the kitchen together Blake and I both went upstairs to his room. We both sat on his bed until I dozed off for a few minutes. After I woke up I noticed that Blake was no longer there and I had to pee. As I opened the door I heard the shower running. Shit.
"Sophie? Is that you?" He asked peering out of the shower curtain.
"Yes, I'm sorry. I just have to pee. I'll be fast and then--"
"It's ok. Relax," he said. After washing my hands and leaving the bathroom I heard the shower curtain open again which caused me to turn around.
"Yes?" I asked him.
"Where are you going?" He asked as the water continues running.
"I guess in there?" I said pointing to his bedroom.
"It'd be better if you were going in here," he said pointing inside the shower.
"Mmmmm, you have your way with words don't you?" I asked him as I stripped off my tshirt and shorts.
"I like to think so," he said as I got under the hot spray with him. He ran his hands down my back and pushed me closer to him. Then he began kissing my hungrily, his lips pushing against mine. He moved his lips from mine onto the little corner behind my ear. I felt myself trying to bite my lip as he ran his tongue over my ear.
"Oh my god," I moaned as Blake pushed himself onto me. He then pushed himself into me causing me to scream out his name in pleasure. He had me against the tile wall of the shower as the water continued to rain on both of us. I found my hands running through his curls on his head as he slowly returned his lips to mine. After he was finished and removed himself from me he looked at me with cautious eyes.
"You ok?" He asked turning off the shower.
"Yeah, I'm fine," I said reassuring him. He opened the shower curtains grabbed two white fluffy towels off the rack near by and handed me one. After we finished drying off and got dressed went went back downstairs to the kitchen to eat dessert.
"Mmmm, this is good," Blake said taking another bite of the berry cobbler.
"Yeah, I thought you'd like it," I said wiping my mouth with a napkin.
"Oh, I meant to tell you. Chris and Jada are having a little get together at their house tomorrow night. Just a few of us over for dinner and hanging out, do you wanna go?" He asked me.
"Yeah, that sounds fun. I haven't seen the other girls in awhile. Should we bring something?" I ask.
"Um, I'm bringing beer, I'm sure you could bake some kind of dessert that we could take over there," he suggested.
"Ok, I can do that," I said taking my last bite.

The next day Blake went to the gym and had a few errands to run while I lounged around at his house until he got back. I heard the garage door open when I was laying on the couch talking on the phone with Gail.
"Yes, it was so simple. Just the flour, egg, and sugar mixture on top," I said telling her about the cobbler I made the night before. Thats when Blake jumped on to couch next to me. He then go on top of my and began to kiss my cheek. The kisses were wet but so hot. He was still wearing his warmups that accentuated him in all the right places.
"Stop it," I mouthed to him so Gail wouldn't hear. Blake then started to giggle as I got irritated while still slightly turned on. He ran his hand down my side and grabbed onto my exposed thigh. His touch made me squirm and lose my train of thought. I couldn't even remember what Gail had asked and I just started to laugh as Blake left a trail of kisses on my collarbone.
"Gail, can I call you back? Something came up," I said trying to hold back my laughter.
"Oh, yes dear. I'll talk to you later honey."
"Ok, I will," I said removing the phone from my ear slowly.
"Get off of me! I was on the phone with your mother," I yelled at Blake as he continued to laugh and kiss me.
"Mom knows about us. It's not like you're my mistress," he said scrunching his eyebrows.
"But, you're trying to make out and touch me while I'm on the phone with her! She probably heard you. She most definitely heard me!" I said as he rolled off of me.
"You're so uptight sometimes. How do I put up with your ass?" He asked wrapping his arm around my waist.
"I don't know how you do it. I'm a handful," I said sitting up.
"Ain't that the truth? I was thinking about leaving the house in about an hour is that ok?"
"Yeah, I baked a cake to take with us. I just need to get ready," I said going upstairs to get dressed with Blake right behind me. I threw on a white eyelet dress and my denim jacket paired with brown sandals. After getting my purse and throwing on a few bracelets I headed downstairs to see Blake in shorts and a white tshirt spread out on the couch with his phone in his face.
"You ready?" I ask from the kitchen grabbing the cake.
"Yeah, you're fast. I'd figured I'd be waiting at least another forty five minutes," he said sitting up and fixing his tshirt.
"No, I'm ready. I decided to go with a natural look today. I can be ugly today," I said laughing to myself.
"I like you like this," Blake replies quickly.
"What? Without makeup and frizzy hair?" I asked confused.
"I mean it's still you. And you're still just as pretty as you were with makeup and non frizzy hair. I think I may actually like you like this better," he said taking a step closer to me.
"I don't believe you," I said rolling my eyes.
"Well, trust me. I really do," he said holding out his hand to me as he took mine and held it up to his lips putting a light kiss on it.
