I didn't know what to say. Do I say it back? Yes. But what if it's too soon? But he just said it so it must not be too soon. Right? It's not too soon.
"You don't have to Sophie. It's ok," he said trying to reassure me as I looked at him and nodded as all of these thoughts were jumbled around in my mind. Even though he told me I didn't have to I still felt like I needed to.
"I don't wanna go home," I said trying to ease some of the tension.
"Ok, you don't have to go home," he said coming to a red light. "We could go to my house? Order some pizza and watch a movie or something like that. Whatever you want to do."
"Ok that sounds good, I'm starving."
"Yeah, the ahi tuna and salad didn't hold me over as I thought it would," he said laughing.
"I told my mom that people would want more after that. I thought we should have steak but she insisted on the fucking fish," I said with frustration as Blake laughed. "I'm serious! I told her that I wanted meat. Like steak."
"I believe you, I believe you. It's just funny the way you said it." After we got to Blake's house we ordered pizza and cuddled up on the couch to watch a movie until I began to doze off.
"Soph, Sophie," he whispered while rubbing my leg to wake me up.
"Yeah?" I said startled as I sat up and moved my feet from across his lap.
"C'mon lets go upstairs and go to bed," he said as I nodded and got up. He took my hand and led my up the stairs to his bedroom. It was huge. Probably three times the size of mine. There was a couch and a huge desk in the corner. A 70 inch TV that hung on the ash grey wall. The crown molding was impeccable. And the bed, a California King of course was made up perfectly.
"Here, do you want to just to wear this to sleep in?" He asked holding out an OU shirt.
"Yeah, thanks. Is this your bathroom?" I asked pointing to a slightly cracked door.
"Yeah, go ahead. And on the right sink there is a toothbrush for you with floss, toothpaste, and other stuff," he said softly. As I entered the bathroom I saw that he had all of that stuff that he mentioned as well as a brand new towel set. After I changed into the tshirt that went to my knees and brushed my teeth and washed my face I went back out into Blake's room to see him shirtless on his back looking at something on his phone. I felt my self get a little weak in the knees as he looked at me and gave me a soft smile. He lifted up the comforter signaling me to come and join him which I did. I climbed on the bed and put my back facing his chest.
"You are so cute in that shirt," he said pushing his lips against my ear causing me to twist my head and laugh a little.
"Well I have to say that you look pretty cute without a shirt."
"Mmmm, make sure to tell my mom that tomorrow," he said sarcastically.
"Blake!" I said turning around and smacking his chest playfully.
"I'm only kidding! I'm kidding. Besides, I already told her about your little robe," he said winking.
"Stop it!" I said burying my face into his bare chest as I felt my cheeks grow red.
"You know I'm joking. Now go to sleep. I've gotta game tomorrow and you've gotta meet the parents," he said kissing me on the top of my head and turning out the light.
The next morning I woke up alone the next morning with a note on the beside table. The small piece of paper was folded and had my name written on the front. It read,
Sorry I had to leave early. Doc called us in for an early practice. I'll be home later to take you home. Mom and dad are very excited to meet you.
Blake
After reading the note I put it back on the bedside table and checked my phone. I had six texts and three missed calls from my mother. Before even reading the texts or listening to the voicemails I decide to just call her.
"Sophia! I've been trying to call you all morning! Where are you? I stopped by your house to bring you breakfast--are you still hungover?" She barked at me.
"Mom, why are you yelling at me? I'm fine. I have a little headache but I'm fine. And I'm at Blake's," I said to her sitting up and making my way downstairs.
"You're at his house? Sophie, you need to come home now ok. I want you have dinner with your father and I tonight. We didn't get to see much at the party."
"Yes I'm at his house. And I have other plans tonight. So we will have to reschedule," I said opening the fridge and grabbing a bottle of water.
"Plans. What plans?"
"I'm going to Blake's game," I say hearing the door open. "Mom I'm gonna hang up now. I'll call you later," I said hanging up the phone.
"Hey, you're here earlier than I thought," I said to Blake. He was still wearing his warmups and his shirt was soaked with sweat.
"It's almost two o'clock. Did you just wake up?" He asked setting his bag down and coming toward me.
"Shit. Two o'clock? I need to get home. Oh, no, no, no, don't hug me you're all sweaty and gross," I said to him as he wrapped his arms around me.
"I was just going to take a shower, maybe you could help me?" he said raising his eyebrows and tucking a piece of hair behind my ear.
"I would love to but..."
"But what?" He asked confused.
"It's almost two and your game is at what nine? And I still need to get my eyebrows waxed, find something to wear tonight, eat, and I need a blowout," I said hanging my hands around his neck.
"You know, I think I know someone else that needs a blow," Blake said giving my ass a squeeze causing me to yelp.
"I swear to god Blake! You better get all of these damn comments out now before we're sitting across from your mother at a dinner table!"
"Ahahah! Momma knows I mean well. And she knows that I would never even think about saying those things."
"Hopefully you're right. Now can you take me home? I've got a lot to do before tonight."
