I woke up to an empty bed. I guess Blake had practice this morning. I'm glad I told him last night. I'm glad I just got it off my chest and was able to tell someone. And I'm glad that he was so supportive and even excited? I guess I'll get there when the initial shock is over.
I got up and went down stairs to make coffee and turn on the Today show. After turning the coffee pot on I heard the door unlock. Blake quietly shut the door behind him and came into the kitchen with a bag in his hands.
"Oh, you scared me!" He said jumping holding his chest.
"Sorry...I thought you were gone. Like for the day."
"Yeah, and I thought you'd be asleep!" He said playfully as he set the bags down on the counter. "You ok today?" He asked looking at me out of the corner of his eye.
"Yeah, I'm ok."
"I was worried about you last night," he said looking at me sternly.
"I know, I was overreacting. I'm fine now."
"You weren't overreacting. Not at all. I know it's scary. Terrifying. But I'm here. I'm here and I'm not going anywhere," he said coming over to me and bringing me into his chest. I just allowed myself to breathe in his scent before saying anything.
"Ok."
"That's right. Everything is gonna be ok," he said looking at me.
"What's that?" I ask changing the subject.
"Orange juice, bananas, bagels, cream cheese, and coffee creamer. You didn't have much here," he said putting the orange juice in the fridge.
"Yeah, I need to do a big grocery shopping like today," I said sighing and leaning back on the counter.
"You coming to my game tonight?" Blake asked coming closer toward me.
"Um, yeah. Yeah, I think I will. I need to talk to Jada."
"You're going to my game just so you can talk to Jada? What about me?" He said pouting.
"Of course I'll be there for you. But I want to ask what doctor Jada used...and stuff. I want to make a doctors appointment to make sure everything is ok before we tell anyone. And that includes our parents. Are you ok with that?"
"Agreed," Blake said placing a light kiss on the corner of my mouth causing me to smile.
"You know my parents are coming back down here in like two weeks and I know they'd love to see you this time," Blake said grabbing hold of my waist.
"Yeah, I want to do dinner like I wanted to. Show your mom around and everything."
"Yeah, she was pissed at me the entire time she was here because we were in our little tiff. I never heard the end of it. And then every little thing I did was just so terrible."
"Yeah?"
"Oh my god it was ridiculous. But, yes I'm sure she would love if you did a dinner and stuff. And actually I think that the day after the game they are coming in I go on a road trip. Short one."
"Ok, well they are welcomed to stay here. I have plenty of room. And I will be working so they would have the house to themselves," I added.
"Yeah, that's what I was thinking."
"What time is your game tonight? Like seven?"
"Mhm, I gotta leave in a bit to go practice. Doc wants us there early," Blake said leaning back on the counter.
"Ok, well I was thinking that I could come over to your place after the game," I said putting my hands around his neck.
"Mhmm, I think I'd like that," Blake said smirking.
"Good," I said giving his ass a little squeeze.
"Getting a little frisky I see?" He said laughing.
"Just for you love, just for you," I said to him.Blake left for practice soon after we ate breakfast while I sat on the floor in my closet sorting laundry. My phone began to ring and I saw that it was my mom. I waited until it rang a third time before picking it up hoping that she would hang up.
"Hello?" I said.
"Sophie, are you home?" She asked concerned.
"Yeah, I got back last night. Sorry I forgot to call. I was just um, tired. I came home and passed out," I lied to her as I thought back to last night. (Me hysterically sobbing in the bathtub and thinking about how I was going to tell my mom).
"Well, your father and I want to see you. How about dinner tonight?"
"I'm busy tonight. Work. I have to go over some stuff with Julie," I lie to her again.
"Oh, ok. I forgot you're a working girl now. But, maybe Sunday perhaps?"
"Possibly. I'll have to double check my schedule."
"Ok, well let me know. How was your trip?"
"It was good. I really liked Portland surprisingly. Nice city," I said trying to make conversation.
"Really? Well that's nice. Are you home for awhile?" She asked.
"Yeah, the next road trip isn't for a few weeks so I'll be home."
"Good, good. Well let me let you go, I'm sure you have important things to do. But let's try dinner Sunday, ok?"
"Ok, yeah."
"Bye Sophie."
"Bye Mom," I said hanging up the phone and sighing. After going grocery shopping I came home and started getting ready for the game. Tonight I decided to black it out. Black jeans, black tank top, paired with my denim jacket and jeweled sandals. I called Jada asking her if she wanted to meet for a quick dinner before the game and she said yes. I needed to talk to someone who'd done this before and who wouldn't judge me at the drop of a hat.
Jada and I met at Basil's for pizza before heading to the game.
"Hey lady!" I said standing up to hug her as she came to the table.
"Hey, how are you?" She said squeezing me tightly.
"I'm good, I'm good. No kiddos tonight?" I asked.
"Nope, they are home with a sitter. Momma needed a night out! Perhaps a drink too," she said as we both sat down.
"Haha, yeah I feel ya."
"So, you and Blake are back together I assume?" She asked cautiously.
"Oh, yeah. Yeah. Did he tell everyone that we were done?" I asked wide eyed. I thought he would sort of keep that to himself for awhile.
"Well, he wasn't acting himself so he talked to DJ and Chris about it. I overheard the story while in the kitchen. Let me just tell you girl. I could not believe he shut the door in your face!"
"I know. And all I did was stand there are cry. Haha, but it's all good now. We got everything cleared up," I said taking a sip of my water.
"Good. I'm glad. Really glad. I didn't want to see B like that or never see you again!"
"I'm not going anywhere, promise," I said smiling as our waiter came over. I ordered a pizza and Jada ordered an appetizer and a cocktail before the waiter took our menus and told us it should be ready soon.
"No pre game drinks for you tonight?" Jada asked squeezing the lemon into here cocktail.
"Nope, not for awhile. That's actually what I wanted to talk to you about..."
"Is everything ok?" Jada asked concerned.
"Yeah, everything's fine. I'm um...I'm pregnant."
"What? Oh my gosh! It's B's right?" She asked quietly.
"Yes, it's his," I said calmly.
"Oh my gosh! Sophie that's so exciting!" She said leaning over and hugging me tightly.
"Yeah, yeah it is. To be honest I wasn't that excited before. But I am now. And so is Blake. He took it way better than I thought."
"Wow, that's amazing. Blake with a baby. Girl you got your work cut out for you," she said nodding at me.
"So I've been told," I said smirking. "But, we want to keep this on the down low until we go and see a doctor which is what I wanted to ask you about."
"Oh yes! I loved Dr. Marks. She was amazing. I'll text you her contact info when I get home. But I had her when I was pregnant with Chris and Camryn."
"Ok, good. This is just all so new to me, you know?"
"I know. It's a little scary, but all so worth it. What did your parents say?"
"I haven't exactly told them yet. My mom can be a little difficult. I'm actually dreading it."
"Sophie, I'm sure she's going to be thrilled. I mean she's gonna get a grand baby!"
"Yeah, but she's just going to see that baby as a baby out of wedlock that I'm having with a guy she can't stand. She just can't see past that," I said sighing.
"Well, then that's her fault. She's missing out. I know this is easier said than done but, don't beat yourself up over it. She'll come around. She has too, you're her daughter," Jada said putting her hand on my leg.
"Yeah, she's missed out on a lot," I said nodding at her.
