After my mom and I left Nobu and she dropped me off I sat in my room thinking to my self what in the actual hell? Jackson was Blake Griffin. Jackson was a big time NBA player that makes $94 million according to Forbes magazine. Why would he tell me his name was Jackson? It's not even even his middle name. I mean this whole name thing did not change the fact that I wanted to bang him. He was still bangable. He was still sweet and funny. He was still the Jackson that sat with me for nearly three hours at the Bungalow. My phone was ringing. It was probably him. It was almost 10:15 so I'm assuming he's either here or on his way. Should I give him the silent treatment? Yes. I should. But what if he wants to apologize? He might. He should.
"Hello." I said dryly.
"Hey. I just pulled up can I come in?"
"Sure. But I don't feel like getting up. There is a key in the light pink peony plant that's sitting just under the door bell." I directed him. There was no way in hell I was gonna give him any kind of special treatment which most definitely included opening the front door. I heard his car turn off and a few footsteps leading up onto the porch and then the key turning the lock. I'm assuming he then locked the door and set the key on the little tray painted with my initials since I heard a little clink and proceeded to look for my in the living room.
"Soph?" He called. Oh my gosh. He called me Soph. No one ever calls me that. Except my parents and a few friends. Never a guy. I could feel my cheeks grow a little pink as my stomach began to jump around.
"I'm upstairs in my room!" Is this too soon for him to be coming in my room? This is the third date? I mean guaranteed I don't really even know what his first name is but I do know that if he tried anything I my father knows a hell of a lawyer that could get his ass kicked out of the NBA. I heard him coming up the stairs. I wonder if he changed clothes. I mean he looks good in anything. I'm sure he'd look even better with no clothes on but that's beside the point. As he approached the door way I could see that he did change. He was wearing gray joggers paired with a white tshirt and cobalt blue Nike Air Pegasus'. Casual chic. And those joggers were tight in all the right places. Both of us didn't speak for a moment as I continued to lay in my bed and he continued to stand in the doorway.
"Can I come in?" He asked.
"I guess. I mean are you gonna tell me who you really are. Jackson? Blake? Nice guy who bought me a drink verses NBA superstar."
"Sophie. I can explain, honestly."
"Please, enlighten me Mr. G.? Yeah is that part real?"
"I mean my last name is Griffin. But listen to me please." I began to hear the agitation in his voice. He was now out of the door way and sitting on the edge of my bed as I was tucked under my comforter that was almost pulled up to my nose. There was an awkward silence that lingered between the two of us before either of us could say anything.
"I'm listening. I promise. I'm a good listener." I said to him as he shook his head and began to laugh a little under his breath. He had a good laugh. It was genuine and sweet and the way his eyes squinted a little when he smiled was cute too.
"Well for starters. My name is Blake. Blake Griffin. Not Jackson. And I am in the NBA and I play for the Clippers. There I said it. Everything else true stuff. I did go to to school and major in physical therapy and then left during my junior year to go into the league. I like to hang out at The Bungalow, and eat Japanese at Nobu, and think about the next time I'll get to see you." Holy shit. Did he just say that. He really does like me. Jesus Christ. This cute biracial NBA beauty really likes me. Holy shit. I didn't even know what to say that point so I just started laughing.
"Did I say something wrong?" He asks desperately.
"No, no! You said good things. I'm just a little in shock." I said trying to catch my breath. Why am I out of breath when I haven't even spoken that much. What the hell is wrong with me?
"Good. You had me scared for a second" he says giving me a faint smile.
"So, now that we've established that why did you feel the need to lie to me honestly. I mean was it because I was such a bitch at the nail salon?"
"Not exactly. I mean I didn't plan on talking to you after I saw the way you acted at the nail salon to be completely honest hahah." He began laughing as he stretched out on my bed. His torso laying across the tips of my toes and his head propped up by his hand.
"Making yourself at home I see. Plan on staying awhile?"
"As long as you let me."
"Hahahah, alright continue."
"I was going to The Bungalow that night because I did every Tuesday night. It was always slow and there weren't people hounding me for a picture or an autograph. And I remember seeing you and thinking that you only gave me hell twenty minutes before was because I was in the NBA. That's when It was a little game for myself and a test for you."
"A test for me?"
"Yeah, I'm not trying to sound cocky but a lot of girls like me and a lot of girls like me for I have packin' in the bank and that's the only reason they like me."
"So you wanted to see if I was one of them?" I said giving him a concerned look.
"Precisely."
"Well, not to be a pretentious bitch but I have my own money thank you."
"I see that. Your place is pretty nice. I mean maybe not as nice as mine but..."
"Listen Griffin, I may have money but I sure ain't packin' $94 million in the bank" I said as he began to laugh hysterically leaning his head back.
"You're a funny girl Sophie."
"Thank ya. I'd like to think you're a funny guy."
"Well this funny guy needs to get going considering I have to be up at 7am for a shoot around. But thank you for allowing me to come over and explain my sorry ass" he said getting up from my bed and stretching his arms. I then decided to get up from my bed and walk him downstairs since he did come and apologize.
"You don't have a sorry ass. I mean at least in a literal sense."
"Oh so you've been checking out my ass haven't you?" He questioned me sarcastically.
"Ehhh, I don't want to lie" I said pretending to bite my nail smiling at him as we reached the front door.
"Well, I'll tell you what. You can check out my ass as long as I get to take you out Friday night?"
"Sounds fair" I say as he looked at me and smiled and places a delicate kiss on my lips. I could taste his honey flavored Chapstick and smell his sandalwood and mint scent again on his neck that I just wanted to bury my face in.
"Goodnight Sophie" he said to me letting himself out the door as his smell still lingered in my thoughts.
