Tristans POV
I feel like my body temperature raised a solid ten degrees because I'm burning with jealousy or maybe rage, I'm not sure all I know is I saw Emma with Kyle. Emma get out of his car and the smug look he gave me as he saw my reaction to them being together shows me his intentions. I can't think about that right now though, what I need to focus on is winning this game and kicking his ass on the field. And maybe a little off the field too but I'll wait till after the game.
Throwing on my pads and gear next to me is Derek who hasn't said a word to me since I walked into the locker room like he could sense my anger. We continue to get dressed in silence as some of my other teammates around me are getting rowdy and messing around with one another. However Coach enters the room and everything falls silent and my teammates begin crowding around in a huddle like we do every game but when Coach starts speaking his words become distant because all I can think of is her.
My legs are moving me out the locker room and too the field and everything feels louder than usual, the lights seem brighter and my breathes become more shallow as I scan the bleachers filled to capacity with students. But I couldn't care because their is only one person I want to watch me and when I spot her my world finally stops spinning. She's at the bleachers in one of the front rows in a corner and when she catches my gaze a shy smile appears on her lips.
The lips I want to taste more than I want to anything right now. It's this moment here that I realize I need her, she grounds me and pulls me back into her orbit to keep me from losing control like I normally would. But the piercing noise ringing in my ears shakes me from my thoughts and I know I need to focus now.
Next thing I know I was on the field facing off against East Valley High and I could feel the intensity of the game in the air and I shows when I call the first play into action and the sound of pads colliding against each other fill in the air. I can see our defense breaking as East Valley continues to push and I let the ball fly far into Dereks hands but a spilt second later he is tackled into the ground.
Thats how the game goes for the the next fifty five minutes, pure violence in every play. East Valley is up twenty one points, most of which have been scored by Kyle, to our twenty points. I can't feel my ribs after the amount of hits I've taken and my head pounds as I see the clock ticking by leaving us with less than eighteen seconds to go I call the play into action and watch as Derek is immediately double marked and I can see a huge offensive line man making his way through our wall of defense.
With no other options I take off running towards the end zone fifteen yards away but their defense is already closing in quickly. I twist and weave my way through a couple East Valley defenders until I'm crashing into the end zone with the sound of the final whistle being blow and the a stadium full of students erupts in cheers.
East Valley hangs their heads as they get onto the bus, the look of defeat. I scan the parking lot looking for Emma but its still packed with students getting into their cars probably to go to some party or for food. However my gaze locks with a pair of familiar brown ones. Kyle. He stares me down as he pulls out of the parking spot, I can see another guy on the team in the car and a couple in the back but I can't make out their faces. I feel a knot in my stomach tighten as I watch them leave the parking lot.
She left with them I'm sure of it, I continue to scan the parking lot losing hope every second that ticks by as I rub the back of my neck trying to calm myself down. A wave of anger flushes over me as I think of every worse case scenario, her alone in a car full of guys she doesn't know who have nothing but the worst intentions. I start to walk towards my car quickly as I can fishing out my keys from my bag. I'm so concentrated on what I'm doing next to get to Emma I almost don't hear the distant yelling of my name.
Turning my head around I see Emma standing a few feet behind me and I can't help the smile that takes over my face. I'm a mixture of relieved and ecstatic from her presence. I take a deep breath as I watch her walk over her head pointed towards the ground but I'm frozen in place. She stops a couple feet away from me and she looks nervous.
"I'm sorry about what happened before the game, I had no clue he was James' friend that was going to pick me up but I didn't want to miss your-"
Before she can finish the sentence my lips are on hers and my trembling fingers are threaded through her hair. She kisses me back just as hungry for me as I pull her closer so our bodies fush together. I can't think of anything other than her when we kiss, I think about how much I love her lips, how much I love her warmth, how much I love how perfectly her body matches with mine.
All I can think about is how much I love Emma Blake.
