I wiped the sweat off my forehead, the sun was already at its highest and I'd been cleaning the damn deck all morning. I had the characteristic smell of blood permeating my nose and I was dying to drink at least one cup of hot coffee. Although my appetite had diminished a bit with the passing of the hours, my stomach was still churning.

"Hey girl, look, I brought you this." Normani approached me with a piece of bread and a jug of water.

I stopped cleaning and taking what I had brought I flopped on the floor. For some time I stopped caring if I got dirty or not. She likewise dropped down next to me.

"Thank you" I said with a smile after taking a big sip of water "I hadn't seen you until now, where were you?" I asked now biting the bread.

"Well, I just woke up. Dinah took me to her cabin to rest" she replied somewhat shyly.

I watched her for a few minutes trying to understand why she was suddenly shy. Only one thought crossed my mind but I refused to draw conclusions without really knowing what was going on.

"Hey, how is Dinah? The last time I saw her was in the morning and she seemed to be hurt" I wanted to change the subject and talk about something else but was curious to know how she was doing.

That made me remember that apart from not having seen the blonde, I had not seen the others either. Very few of the men had been left loitering on deck and the rest had simply disappeared.

"Don't worry about her, she'll be fine." She is also resting, like all the others.

"Is everyone resting?" I said surprised, finishing eating the last piece of bread I had.

"Yes, Camila gave that order. As the crew stayed awake all night and part of the morning, she decided it would be good to let them rest," she replied.

Everything was so strange to me. She was a pirate and the captain of a ship, she was supposed to be mean, cruel to everyone as she had shown last night while fighting with the other ship. At least that was my concept of what a pirate should be like and the one that the movies had left me.

"Camila, is she ...?" I did not finish my question, completely surprising myself to see where my thoughts were going.

Normani smiled, probably noticing the blush on my cheeks.

"Mila has not rested, after all she is the one who directs this ship" I opened my mouth to say something but the brunette was quick to add "Shawn is by her side, they will both watch their backs if something happens."

She looked towards the part where the helm was located with a smile, it didn't take long for me to mimic her action. The brunette was surely laughing at something the boy had said while leaning against the railing. A sensation crept into my stomach, different from what I had experienced with blood.

I looked away taking all that was left of the water in the jug in one gulp. I ran my arm across my mouth, wiping away the drops that had been left there and were threatening to fall. Unable to avoid it, I looked at Camila, who absentmindedly ran her tongue over her lips without taking her gaze from me.

Shit!

Surely I was beginning to see things that were not, it must be the sun. I shook my head to push away the exciting image of her licking her lips.

I turned around to see Normani again, who was still staring absently in the same direction as before with a small smile. I had to bite my tongue to avoid blurting out a question. It was none of my business, I kept repeating over and over in my head. I stood up stretching a little.
