"Get me down! I said put me down!" I yelled, hitting the back of the big man who was carrying me.

We had been on the run for a long time, long enough to be sure that we would not meet a native of the island. We had advanced so much that we could already see how it was dawning. But I had a problem, no one seemed to listen to what I was saying. None seemed to mind having left one of their own, they all kept walking without even looking back.

"We will rest here," Dinah informed.

Gerd following the order and carelessly released me, causing me to fall to the ground with a hard blow. I rubbed my butt to ease some of the pain from the fall, then got up to shake my clothes off. I fixed my eyes on the blonde, she was turning her back to the entire crew. She rested her head on a nearby tree, hitting it repeatedly with one of her hands. I listened as she let out some annoying curses while with the other hand she shook her hair.

Without caring about the state the girl was in, I addressed her with firm steps. I placed my hand on her shoulder and made her turn around, grabbing her shirt collar, pulling her closer to me, to the point where our breaths collided.

"Why did you allow them to take her away?"

For a moment she looked surprised but quickly regained the same scowling expression. With a slap he pushed me away from her and with her eyes shining with danger she looked at me.

"What are you talking about?" She practically spat out the words, she was really angry.

Still I would continue to insist.

"You didn't do anything to stop those Spaniards from taking Camila," I said, exasperated.

"It was her decision to stay," she breathed deeply, as if trying to calm herself. "It was her or the crew and Camila would never allow something bad to happen to her people, less now that you are here ..." She said that last, narrowing her eyes a little.

"What?..."

"In addition, the natives were very close, that gave us time so that we could all escape. The cannibals would not come after us while the Spanish were there vulnerable and occupied with her" she explained, totally ignoring my question.

"Well..." I tried to say as best I could, I was still assimilating what she had said "But we have to go back for her" I pointed from where we had come.

"No, we won't," she answered in a hard voice.

"They can hurt her," I said in a small voice.

"They won't do anything to her" before I could reply something she continued "Camila is safe, for now..."

I blinked a few times to try to understand what she had said. For a few seconds I did nothing but stare at her, losing myself in the questions that now flooded my head. But whispers and curses from Dinah brought me out of my thoughts.

"How is it safe?"

The blonde ran her hands over her face, letting out a frustrated groan.

"The Spanish are not stupid, they probably sacrificed some of their men in order to escape with Camila. They will not kill her, her head is very valuable to the kings of Spain" she replied turning her back on me.

"What do you mean?" I asked in a whisper, not wanting to know the answer that deep down I already knew.

Dinah turned and roughly grabbed me by the shoulders, her fingers clenching my skin causing me pain. I opened and closed my mouth without knowing what to say or do, her action had really surprised me.

"There is a great reward for Camila. They will take her to the gallows in front of thousands of people and then they will give her head to the kings" the blonde shook me saying this.

My eyes widened and a strange sensation washed over my chest. As a proto, I wanted to get out of Dinah's grip and run to go even deeper into the forest so I could look for the brunette.

Shit was screwed.

"Calm down girls" an arm passed over my shoulders, drawing me towards a strong and slender body "Everything will be fine, we will find Mila before we expect it."

I looked at Shawn who was now gently patting my arm, giving me a reassuring smile. Something that strangely worked, so I believed him. We were going to find the brunette and when I had her by my side I would not let her go.

When I was at the top of my positive thoughts a loud roar echoed through the place. Everyone immediately became alert, striking a defensive pose with their swords. It was obvious that they were prepared for an attack.

I felt Shawn's hand slide down my body until it reached my lower back, where he pressed his hand a little. He leaned closer, it was there that I could see how tense he was and how he was looking at a fixed point behind me. Nothing was heard, no other roar was present. Silence was what reigned for several minutes.

"Run," Shawn whispered in my ear.

He gave me a slight push with the hand he had left on my body, forcing me to take a few steps forward.

"Run!" He shouted now for the others who did not hesitate to do so.

Without understanding why we had to run, I began to follow the other members of the crew. I got to the side of Dinah who looked worried as she dodged branches and stones that were in the way. Just when I was about to ask her what was going on, a spear struck the ground a little ahead of us. A gasp came out of my mouth as I passed that thing.

A little more and it hit either one of them!

"Shit," I heard the girl say between gasps.

Risking but without stopping I turned to look back only to find that a group of men with loincloths were following us. Scared I tried to go faster. An arrow crashed into the tree that had just happened that threw me out of concentration and made me move awkwardly, even so I kept running. I felt like my lungs were burning needing oxygen. I was running for my life while watching for others who did the same.

In a quick movement I ended up supporting my foot badly, seconds later I was falling to the ground. A few hands around my arms alarmed me but hearing the growls calmed me down a bit. The cannibals were approaching at great speed.

"Let's move on," Dinah said, making an effort to get up.

Suddenly we were being lifted off the ground. We were hanging trapped in a large net. The natives screamed feasting below us as the rest of the crew escaped.

"Shawn take them to the boat!" The blonde yelled loudly, hoping the boy had heard her.

"What are we going to do now?" I asked, stirring several times.

"I ..." She spoke in a low tone, she looked just as scared as me. "I don't know ..."

Then the net we were trapped in began to move from one side to the other. I lowered my eyes, managing to see how they began to cut the rope that kept us aloft. The impact was strong my head crashed against the ground and after that everything went dark.
