When we got to that tavern, the first thing the few men who followed us did was find a table to sit on, it helped a lot that the place wasn't full. Instead Camila looked for the owner and it didn't take long to find her, there she was at one of the back tables talking to three men who were smiling at her with delight. The brunette left my side to walk towards Ally, she touched the shorter girl's shoulder causing her to turn around. Surprised, she lunged at my girl, smiling enormously as she hugged her. Camila returned the hug and when she pulled away I could see her saying something to her friend who only nodded addressing the men who had accompanied her before. They looked disappointed but ended up shaking their heads and shrugging to continue talking to each other.
The two girls walked away and walked to the bar, Ally turned her around, staying behind her and the brunette sat on one of the stools. I decided to get closer because that was better than standing near the door doing absolutely nothing. I slowly sat down next to Camila who turned her head and gave me a bright smile which I reciprocated. I turned and greeted the woman in front of us.
"You guys don't know how happy I am to see you!" She started saying excitedly. "I was worrying since you don't usually take that long in this type of work," she said, turning to Camila.
"About that," the brunette spoke seriously. "Why the hell did you say they were French? When we got to the damn island we found Spaniards and you know what our situation is with them" she ended up annoyed with a frown.
"W-what?" She asked in surprise.
"What you listen."
"Oh my god," Ally brought her hands to her mouth, covering it. "I swear I didn't know, I'm really sorry. If I had known, I would not have given you the information about the job, I mentioned it to you because the subject who gave it to me asked for you."
"For me?" It was Camila's turn to ask.
"That's right," the girl answered. "I wanted you to do the job because, according to what he said, you were very good at what you do. He also gave me a lot of money to make sure I would leave it to you alone," she commented afterwards as if she were remembering.
I limit myself to watching and listening to them while they spoke, after assimilating Ally's words I had no doubt that this screamed cheating everywhere. Right after my conclusion a strong blow made me startle a little, I looked at the brunette's hand fisted on the wood of the bar. The shorter girl just like me looked at her in surprise at her sudden action.
"Damn," she said through her teeth but he just didn't understand anything. "It was him, that idiot wanted to set me up."
"It can't be ..." Ally whispered in horror.
"He kills my family and now he wants me dead too." She clenched her fists even more in an attempt to control herself.
With those words I can understand well what she was referring to.
"Hey, Camz" I took her face in my hands making her look at me "Honey, take a little breath. Everything is fine, it won't hurt you." I smiled at her.
Then I could see her eyes soften a bit and she slowly nodded her head. Before releasing her I couldn't help but leave a small kiss on her forehead. When we turned back we both saw how Ally looked at us with a smile on her lips.
"Dinah, have you talked to her?" Camila asked this time more calmly.
The shorter one shook it, then pointed nonchalantly toward a door at the back of the tavern. I blushed when I remembered that I had left the same room after that night, apparently having spent it with the brunette. I hated myself right now for not remembering anything that had happened.
