It was my turn to stand watch, it was night and most of the crew was sleeping. Only a few were hanging around, talking or just getting drunk. Walking on the deck I laughed at a man who fell through one of the hatches, the poor man was totally drunk. I shook my head still chuckling low, looked at where Gerd was sitting on a somewhat ruined wooden box. I didn't wait for him to smile at me, I knew he wouldn't but somehow it made me happy to see him there without a scratch. I had made a habit of looking for him these days to make sure he was okay.

Since that fight with the leader of the cannibals I had gotten closer to him or so I thought, I received less growling from him for what I thought was a good thing. He put up a great battle that day, dodging the other giant's attacks, returning the blows with more force. In the end he ended up killing his rival, who continued to be disturbing but that saved us from not being food for the natives of that island. The crew was at a disadvantage due to the number of men and if Gerd had not killed him they probably would never have backed down.

I stopped on one of the sides, appreciating the tranquility that now reigned in the environment. The ship really was a mess during the day. I leaned my arms against the wood of the gunwale and sighed looking at the stars in the sky. I was lost for a moment in them until I heard a noise not far away so I quickly turned my head and instinctively my hand descended to the hilt of my sword, ready to attack. When I saw that it was just Harry I dropped my posture, relaxing as I rolled my eyes. That idiot had scared me off the mast like that.

"Hey Jauregui, I didn't know you had guard tonight," he spoke as he walked towards me.

In response I shrugged my shoulders, leaning back on the side of the ship. He came to my side imitating my action, only with his back leaning against the wood. Out of the corner of my eye I could see that he was carrying a cloth bag in his right hand, the gentle breeze that had carried a disgusting aroma to my nose.

"What the fuck have you got there?" I said looking at him with a frown, whatever he had in there smelled like hell.

The boy looked at the bag for a moment and then raised his head, without making eye contact with me.

"I found these tangerines on the top but when I wanted to eat one they were already bad" he answered "I think it would be better for me to throw them away."

Tangerines

I smiled sadly, surely those were the tangerines that Camila was eating that time, that time when I kissed her for the first time. Unconsciously my hand went up to my lips trying to remember the feeling of his on mine.

"Is something wrong?" Asked the green-eyed.

"Uh ... No nothing," I denied giving him a reassuring smile. "Hey, what were you doing on that island?" I asked, wanting to change the subject.

It had been several days since we left that island, days in which I had lived with Harry more but in all this time I had not asked him things like that. I didn't know enough about my new friend.

"Spanish, they wanted to sell me as a slave then those savages caught me and that's all."

I nodded, he wouldn't speak more than that. I did not know the details of his story but I could see in his eyes that it was not a very pretty one, apparently everyone here had a somewhat tragic past. Everyone except me. I was just a librarian who came from a middle class family, a normal girl.

I looked at the horizon, suddenly I started to feel bad. Nausea took over my body wanting to return dinner today. I put my hand on my stomach at the sensation, I was close to vomiting.

"Are you okay, Jauregui?" Harry placed his hand on my shoulder giving a light squeeze.

Without saying a word I denied, waited for the nausea to pass and calmed down for a few minutes.
